DK, do you know what the Steelers’ plan might be for the back up offensive tackle position if Marcus Gilbert can’t go against the Colts? Pouncey to Tackle and Cody Wallace to Center? Hubbard dresses in Gilbert’s place presumably.

Some thought Josh Mauro, who is 20 lbs heavier, could have gone as high as the 4th round and he didn’t make the Steelers roster after going undrafted. I saw that some ranked Mauro as the superior DE and again he didn’t get drafted.

Well, his 40 time certainly disqualifies him from playing OLB in a 3-4. His size prevents him playing DE in a 3-4 and probably in a 4-3 as well. Perhaps he could have been drafted higher but I doubt he’s getting waived due to his orientation.

The money paid as guaranteed/bonus will still count against cap but the salary for the years they don’t play would not count or be paid. NFL contracts are not guaranteed.

No and no. If a player retires ok more is paid to them and the money is removed from cap hit.

Sarah, the SEC defenses were terrible last year. Check Missouri’s stats…they were not good, save for Sam getting some tackles for losses. He is not good. And his 4.9 time in 40 is not good for his position. Why is it so hard to believe he’s just not an NFL player?
