Monday planner: All this and hoops!

DEJAN KOVACEVIC, DK ON PITTSBURGH SPORTS

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — A look at the week ahead on the site:

• Monday: This week’s Steelers PATs will be up at 3:30 p.m.

• Tuesday: Tuesday 12 Qs, live from the Steelers’ South Side HQ and right after I cover the Mike Tomlin press conference. Should be much to discuss.

• Wednesday: Column on the Pirates’ offseason, including Russell Martin. That night, I’ll be moderating a forum about sports and concussions for Allegheny Health Network with a panel that includes Merril Hoge, Neil Walker and Pierre Larouche. I’ll probably wear a tie.

• Thursday: Steelers column in the morning. In the afternoon, another speaking engagement, this at Point Park University. The topic is what a renegade journalist I am. It’s in front of actual students.

• Friday: The Friday Insider will be up at 1 p.m. And that night, I’ll cover Pitt’s basketball opener against Niagara at the Pete.

• Saturday: The Penguins return after five road games, and it’s the Rangers. Full column to follow.

• Sunday: Off. The Steelers play in Nashville the following night.

As always, expect News/views entries along the way. And maybe an Apple app, too!

Is MLB's pace-of-game 'shot clock' doable or just a shot in the dark?

Worked an hour trying the Google play and then discovered not possible on an iPad. When will they be enabled with an app?

DK is waiting on Apple to source the app. Android/Google (one in the same) move a lot faster. DK told us that the Apple version should be here sometime early this week. Lucky for me I use android.

I have been unable to figure out how to get a photo into a post, like JAL does. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I ask again: Any site issues, PLEASE email us: [email protected]. They'll be addressed aggressively. Always. Here, they won't even be seen. Thanks!

DK, I'm glad to hear of your speaking engagements. Hopefully someone will video and post. Tomlin press conference.....I'm curious, while it is necessary to cover, historically what is typically learned? Please educate the remedial group, of which I am OBVIOUSLY a member.

Great question. The answer is nothing but unfortunately it has to be covered. ;-)

Can't wait for Pitt basketball to startup.
Can't be any worse than Pitt football.
But, due to powderpuff non-conference Dixon always schedules, we won't know how good the team is until January when ACC startsup.

"Can’t be any worse than Pitt football"

There will be people that will disagree with you on that since no one is ever happy with what Pitt does in any sport.

Did I see Sunday correctly; "off"??? Ummm, I'm not paying you to be off. Get to work! Chop chop!

You're going to wear a tie, DK?!?!?! Wow. It finally happened. DK has sold out. (Just kidding.)

I'm here for the Qualifying-Offer-Acceptance-Deadline thread, one of seventy four mostly inconsequential days that baseball fans turn into a thing due to baseball generally not being played in winter months.

The issue of having a daily posting -- every morning -- to discuss whatever you want will be put to rest next Monday. And I hope you like it.

11-10-2014, 12:21 pm

Also, Jon Heyman reports Russell Martin wants five years, more money than Brian McCann, opportunity to play shortstop, and the Canadian National Anthem played before each game.
.
Strong market developing.

11-10-2014, 12:31 pm

This is excellent on so many levels.

You forgot the three rooms of carpeting & the gift selection from the Spiegel Catalog. come to think of it, isn't Spiegel based out of Chicago ? Uh oh.

Is there ONE person checking in here who believes that Russell Martin can even repeat his offensive year from last season?
.
And he had 2/3 of his errors and more "wild pitches/passed balls" in the last 6 weeks also.
.
Da goose is cooked. Bye.
I still think Liriano accepts.

I'd like to see him at short(spring training)just to see him do it, and how about a maple leaf on the sleeve?

Half tempted to call Apple and goose them about getting the ios app approved NOW. Dejan, you're probably even more tempted.

DK - I have a Tasmanian Devil tie I can FedEx to you. The resemblance between you two is striking.

11-10-2014, 3:09 pm

Something to remember in the Martin matter. The best thing the Cardinals ever did was to wish Albert Pujols well in his future endeavors.

11-10-2014, 3:37 pm

It's always interesting to me that a "report" that a player is asking for something gets interpreted as it's a demand as a minimum.

A. Lane

11-10-2014, 3:48 pm

But not before offering 10 years $210 million, if only Billboard King Arte Moreno didn't beat the offer the Cardinals would have Pujlos and not Micheal Wacha.

If that's what it comes to, that's what it comes to. But very curious as to what the solution will be for next year then, since the internal options stink and there's not much in the FA market.

Still a long way to go, though.

11-10-2014, 3:47 pm

Michael Cuddyer signs 2 year deal with the Mets. If I remember correctly, he & David Wright are thick as thieves.

11-10-2014, 3:49 pm

Mets surrender the 15th pick in the 1st round. Rockies get a pick sandwiched between the 1st & 2nd round.

Mets being all Metsies.

College Basketball starts Friday! Hallelujah!

My favorite sport. Pitt has some good non-conference games. Playing in the celebrated and famous Chaminade tournament in Hawaii-certainly will play some quality opponents there. A trip to basketball holy ground in Bloomington and

11-10-2014, 4:30 pm

the rival City Game against Duquesne. I miss the Panthers coming to the Bradley Center each year. I follow Wisconsin, Pitt and UCLA with a passion. Love the sport. Looking for big things from all three, especially Pitt.

11-10-2014, 5:08 pm

Once again no one accepts $15.3 million qualifying offer. Another shocking spectacle. .
That gust of wind you just felt was the collective exhale coming from the general direction of Federal Street.
.
Hi Frank.

Don't forget about that huge cheer from Federal Street now that the Pirates get 2 "sandwich" picks. Lord knows the Pirates love them draft picks.

Hi Frank.

Good for you in monitoring the concussion forum, DK. This is still such a misunderstood issue in sports. So much we still don't know. But, so much is known but not taken seriously.
