This team is falling into similar traps as the Bylsma teams and for that you have to look at the players. Too many turnovers especially by #14 and #87. There is no secondary scoring from the bottom 2 lines, overall that has not changed since last year. At this point I don’t think #14 is un-tradable and really is setting himself up to play on the 3rd line when Comeau and Hornqvist come back. Malkin is the team MVP, by far. His line with Bennett is the best. Despres is a workhorse.

Islanders are certainly better, and better than the Penguins. Halak solved a perpetual problem in net. Grabovski and Kulemin were great additions, and they can role 4 lines something the Penguins cannot.

The Rangers are about the same but they have the one of the best GK in net. Trotz is a very good coach and Washington is certainly improved.

The Penguins issues are same as the last two seasons, without Malkin or Crosby on the ice the team gets hemmed in their own zone.

I think the answer to the record is simple. The penguins are simply not as good as the other three teams. The Flyers are in their heads. But the Isles, Caps, and Rangers are better. The Pens got off to that hot start that inflated expectations. But now the league has adjusted to Johnston’s system and we’re back to the same old, same old.

Have always been more of a Geno fan, just that simple. Disgrace? We’ll see come April I guess. Language SKILLS don’t count when it counts.
