I could see 30 hrs. 40 is a stretch though. Just don't think he sees the abs against LHP. Unless Corey Harts knees go out on him, which is possible.

I just have a feeling the Pirates infield is gonna be mix and match, with whoever is playing well...and it sounds like they are gonna rest guys if you believe their golden state warrior study.

Absolutely agree with you; that 2nd ball he hit to left corner was the same; like OMG, he didn't even really wack away at those! Same for Polanco.

I had the distinct Florida pleasure of being at *opening day*, 2015 for Buccos yesterday--80°, by the way.
Impressions:
1) Pedro hr ro LEFT was crushed; in fact, he hit consistently to opposite field, as did Polanco
2) Speaking of Gregory, he is huge--in a good way.
3) As the de facto prez of the Jordy Mercer fan club (in Tampa, anyway), I was skeptical of Mr. Kang's debut. My 1st sight of him pre-game was his body is not the protypical SS; more bulky than I expected. Haivng said that, he moved quickly when game on. Routine plays/throws = good; on a chopper to 3rd that Romero had to come in on, with Jays' runner on 2nd, he covered 3rd--no big deal but done as it should be; exceptional play--went into short right behind 2nd to get to ball and throwing--accurately--on the rrun for the out.
The home run was slighty right of center, to deepest part of park (400'), albeit with some wind help, it was solid.
4) Pedro at 1st: nothing difficult in terms pf plays to make; nice stretch on 6-4-3 double play. At bat: solid contact and worked the counts.
All in all, nice day in Dunedin, FL. ;-)

Here's the biggest thing I took from yesterday's game. It wasn't Kang's HR, though that was nice, I also remember Brad Eldred and the other big 1B who's name escapes me raking HR's in spring training then hitting nothing when they came north.

But it was the effortless, looked like a meaningless foul ball swing by Pedro Alvarez that yielded a long, opposite field HR, demonstrating that intoxicating power he possesses, the power that is unsurpassed right now in baseball. THAT was a good sign.

Confidence is his game IMO. If Pedro has confidence and can make contact at around a .250 batting average clip, he will easily hit 40 HR's.
