News/views: Steelers add to QB mix with Boyd

This is great news if they plan on playing North Carolina State two years ago. Stinks.

"Bruce Gradkowski and especially Landry Jones, and are would prefer to see better quality below Ben Roethlisberger. "
Eliminate the ARE :)

"What did you do in the NFL, Dad?" "I carried Bruce Gradkowski's clipboard until the Steelers signed Tajh Boyd, son." What a complete waste of a draft pick Jones has been.

There has to be a better option. Jones now can be considered a wasted pick. And I have to imagine there are better options than Boyd.

In a stretching the plausible act of optimism, I think it's fair to say that the Jets understanding of offensive football has not exactly been stellar of late. Heck, at worst he knows Bryant as well as anyone. Worth a look anyway.

I'm convinced Jones has pictures or videos of Tomlin or Steelers management doing something wrong, and that's why he is still on the team

Please tell me they won't waste a draft pick on another quarterback with so many other needs. A project QB won't save their season if Ben goes down, but a CB or OLB might make the difference if Ben stays healthy.

Camp body

Just speculating but I wonder if somebody inquired about Gradkowski. The QB market is very thin, he's owed only 1.5 million has about a dozen starts in his career. UFA next year.

This is no news whatsoever. If you make a fuss about the steelers signing a third string QB then that's a you thing. If it gets to the point that we need QB three then we are doomed. That being said, would like to see an upgrade at number 2

One of Martavis Bryant's best buds.

I think the "tent story" deserves more ink than this news (yawn) - your readers mention Landry Jones as a "wasted pick" - well - that list of "wasted picks" is really growing over the past handful of years. Mr. Colbert has been a real disappointment if you want to be brutally honest. But he is due - overdue - to bring an impact player into the Burgh. Someone that will truly step right in and become a difference maker at the round one level.

Did the Steelers move to the ACC over the off season? Kordell loves the move. He can hold the clip board until the Steelers trade their entire draft for the Sidney Crosby of Penn State.

Hey, the coaching might be slow, but gosh darn it - they finally see the light on Jones, just glad they didn't draft a punter that year instead of Lamb Jones.

Only in Pittsburgh would such a move be news.

Boyd is only a extra arm for training camp

re-reading some of the posts (as well as mine) - not sure why DK should take heat for posting this signing - that is his job and what subscribers signed up for---at least that is what I signed up for. My "yawn" was not at DK but to the player signed. Obviously fans don't get excited about 3rd string QBs - maybe everyones a bit nervous about the glaring holes/depth in the roster coupled with the brutal 2016 schedule. This upcoming DRAFT is huge for Colbert and crew.

Reading the responses here on DK's twitter and other places people really like to hammer home the "wasted pick" aspect. Like the team would be completely different if they had just picked someone else. While I realize talent can come from any round generally a fourth round pick doesn't amount to much. The odds that another pick would be anything but a body would be slim to none. So they took a gamble on trying to develop young depth at the most important position. If it works out the guy is at worst a draft pick trade bonanza, if it doesn't he gets cut a few years down the road which is the likely scenario for just about anyone they would have chosen.

Holy heck! The Jets got Marshall for a 5th rounder?
