After the Olympics, he was invisible the remainder of the season. Then, last season, I think he started OK (as the team did) but then became a non-factor. He has a lot of miles on his chassis.

Ray never found or saw importance in the draft, or in developing players. I’d like someone to find a player drafted under ray that went through our system and became an impact player?

Mario and Burkle are to blame here. They simply never had the feedback mechanism to set what the GM limits are.Why didn’t they tell shero not to give away so much of the future for players who will not be here next year. Once Shero made the trade of J Morrow to Dallas for some washed up winger, it signaled all in which is never the way to go. But now the team is declining while others are emerging into growing playoff teams. The Pens are in band aid mode and have limited prospects, limited options and are still in denial as to where they really are, and what they really need to do.

He is a more talented and younger version of the Kunitz that won the cup on Sids wing. He can keep up with 87 and make our PK strong but also a threat to score due to his speed and skill.

That said if he Hawks wanted forwards, anisimov > sutter. Dano > kapenen right now. And unless they didn’t want pouliot, or draft picks we had no shot.

He’s a big body and would be one of the fastest players on the pens. He has great hands, plays defense like hossa, and plays on the PK and is always a threat for a shorty. And he’s only 22. He will get much better in the coming years. He is worth that salary today. I mean brooks orpik got 5 years for 5.5m I believe. Why is a 22 year old stud who will only improve not worth one more year for one more million?

Believe me…I’m sure there’s a lot of guys on here that are way more hockey-smart than I, but geez! The doom and gloom in these comments, and I read every one of them, is AMAZING. Cmon guys. Its July 1st. One guy does not make a hockey team. We’ve had TWO guys for a long time and only won one Cup. Its a long time before a puck drops for real and so much can & will happen before then…good or bad. Can we just let’s see what happens before we write off a whole hockey season? I enjoy discussing all the scenarios as much as the next guy, but not getting one guy does not mean it’s over before it even starts. Personally I enjoy this small part of the process…collecting and assembling the pieces of the team were going to go to battle with come October. Let it play out. Then we can decide where we stand. Just my take on all this craziness. Now back to your regularly scheduled madness……
