The Riverhounds have enjoyed several feel-good nights at Highmark Stadium this season, with third-year midfielder Rob Vincent playing a prominent role in all of them.

That trend rolled on Saturday night, as Vincent grabbed back the USL scoring lead with a pair of clinical strikes in a 3-0 dissection of New York Red Bulls II.

Vincent’s first goal was a 25-yard thunderbolt from straight-on into the top right corner past New York keeper Santiago Castano just before halftime. His second was more deliberate, as he received a drop pass from Drew Russell, took a couple of touches and tucked the ball neatly off the left post in the 82nd minute.

Add them up, and Vincent has a league-best 11 goals in 15 matches – 13 in 18 including U.S. Open Cup action. Turns out an Englishman can celebrate Independence Day just fine.

“If they’re going to give me the space to hit the ball from there, I’m comfortable to unleash it on target,” Vincent said. “That seems to have happened a few times this year.”
