If the bench was such a problem, how did they manage to compile this record?

You seem to be under the impression that major league teams have 24th and 25th men who are capable of stepping right up and starting with little or no falloff from the starters. Look around the league. Those spots are filled with guys just like the ones the Pirates have, or worse.

No, you’re not paying attention to what I said. You’re interpreting what you want out of what I said, which happens so often with people like you in a blog.

I never said I was “discouraged” by the draft this year and last. I said I was CONCERNED. You can look up the definitions in the dictionary if more feedback is needed.

Solid??? He’s supposed to be a superstar…if you see his ceiling as “solid”, then I would have no problem including him in a trade to upgrade this team.

For goodness sake, the two guys at Morgantown are at least four to six years away from the majors, and you’re discouraged after a handful of at bats for each of them.

Yeah, this team sure sucks. Makes you wonder how they could possibly have the second best record in the NL, and the third best in baseball. Huntington should be fired.

I for one, am starting to be a bit concerned about our draft this year and last year. Lots of names in there but no shining stars yet the likes of a Marte, Cole or Josh Bell? Certainly hope Huntington and crew know what they’re doing in the draft now that Pirates are bottom feeders in the draft.

All this winning the past three years has changed Pirates drafting technique. Much future success depends on Pirates ability to continue to feed top talent into the system. Kang will, I believe, prove to be a steal. But I’m still concerned about the overall talent level drafted this year and last.

The rough start by the two Kevin’s at Morgantown is not encouraging!
