CINCINNATI -- This week’s Good Dude is a blast from the past.
Lloyd McClendon, the Pirates' former manager now at the Mariners' helm, is a good dude.
And not a bitter one.
I spoke at length with McClendon at All-Star Workout Day on Monday. I asked about his former team and suggested that perhaps he would have enjoyed more success with the Pirates had he been blessed with even a portion of the talent that Clint Hurdle enjoys.
McClendon, though, would only speak positively of the Pirates and Pittsburgh.
“I loved playing there so much,” he said. “I loved being the manager there, too. I really did. Trust me, I’ll always be a Buccos fan.”
