I agree it’s time for Bennett to put it all together and contribute, but they’ve invested too much into him to give up on him NOW. If (and yes, it’s a big IF) he can turn into a 20-goal+ player than can slide up and down the lineup for under $2MM, isn’t that EXACTLY what the Penguins need?

It’s interesting that so many fans are ready to give up on Bennett, but are upset at the Rutherford for dealing Despres. Their situations aren’t terribly dissimilar. Both former 1st round picks that have shown flashes, but are still living on their natural abilities more so than their accomplishments.

How many of his career high 49 (woof) regular season games were with Lap and/or Adams? 10? 15 maybe? He was a healthy scratch in the playoffs and only played two games from what I can remember. It doesn’t seem to matter who his line mates are, he simply does not produce.

BB has upside that has to be given every chance to succeed. Note to MJ, you cater to the players strength. What system do you think the Blackhawks play? It is about talent and players making plays. Bennett gives the Pens a forward that battles on the boards and hits folks. His wrist may never be 100%, but his shot is still very good. He is a great fit with Sutter and with Kunitz or Dupuis that is a very workable third line. I prefer Dupuis for speed and defense. Hey DK, were you concerned with JR and is Oli has to pass the next test statement. One would think with his work ethic and dedication that would be a non issue.

I thought the exact same thing. If they have Pouliot at development camp I don’t see why Bennett isn’t there. Probably trying to avoid him getting hurt while getting his skates laced up.
