If MBryant and/or Coates does what ABrown did, as far as reaching their potential....

Then it's not only NOT the worst decision, it's the only decision, based on the economics of the game, particularly when a team pays a franchise QB and finds WR talent every year in Rds 3-6.

Then again, if they would chose dumb BBR, they could afford ABrown, but would have a Bryan Hoyer type throw to him....and we would be back to the Cowher Era....lots of talent, but no QB = winning lot of games and not so many SB's.

would be the worst decision in the history of the franchise if they let Brown leave.

He produces like he did last year, he'll get a contract. They'll find a way.

Great signing in any way you want to look at it.

The next decision is Beachem or DeCastro. Also a no brainer. DeCastro everyday and twice on Sundays.

DeCastro is on a trajectory to be a consistent All-Pro, HOF guard. Beachem is technically competent but with limited additional upside.
Can't afford both.

Also, enjoy ABrown's last year (or two) with the Steelers. Brown fired the opening salvo this Spring. No way he'll take less than Bryant or Thomas ($14MM/year) and no way the Steelers pay that. That's why they drafted Sammie Coates and before him Matavius Bryant. Wouldn't surprise me to see Brown force his way out of Pittsburgh after this season. Not hating on him, just my opinion of the available facts and history of the organization.

It sucks, but it's the reality of the Salary Cap.

Any specifics DK on Heyward's cap hit breakdown? Originally, the thought was that an extension would bring some relief to the cap. How do the 'Stillers' stand this year and upcoming years in terms of the cap, knowing that Troy, the Beard, and Woodley et al are/will be removed?

Only by drafting well and have young players make a significant impact so that more expensive and less effective veterans are no longer on the team. If 3 of this and next years picks turn out to be reliable we may be able to keep him
