If this is the real J.A. Happ, there could be a problem.

The Pirates didn't deserve any better fate Tuesday from this 5-0 blanking by the Cubs -- they've produced a wimpy seven hits in their past two games -- but they've been largely successful because of their starting pitching and, even though it was only one game, Happ never looked capable of giving the Pirates the quality they sought when acquiring him at the deadline from the Mariners.

Happ was hit early and often.
