ST. LOUIS -- It was a conga-line of one sweet swing after the other, the Pirates cracking out seven runs before most of Cardinals' red-clad faithful had found their assigned seats.

Boom, boom, blunder, BOOM, boom, boom and boom again ... all in the first inning.

"Man," Neil Walker would muse later, "that was fun."

No doubt. Walker rapped a hit from both sides of the plate. Pedro Alvarez launched one over straightaway center. Newly minted slugger Francisco Liriano banged home a run, too. And by the time the big lights dimmed at Busch Stadium late Thursday, the ones on the scoreboard burned on to tell this tale:

Conga Line 10, Cardinals 5.

So, wonderful. Ice cream for everyone, cherry on top.
