The Pirates have scored the most runs of any National League team since the All-Star break thanks in part to the run production of Aramis Ramirez and Neil Walker.
But Ramirez's spot in the lineup isn't at all safe right now, while Walker has been used in something of a platoon role recently, rarely starting against left-handed starters. Walker, in fact, was out of the lineup in the Pirates' 6-4 loss to Madison Bumgarner and the Giants Friday at PNC Park.
Clint Hurdle said before the game that Josh Harrison could see time at second base against lefties. He also said Ramirez "isn't going to be an everyday guy just because he isn't an everyday guy anymore," and he suggested the 17-year veteran will need some rest.
