MATT
MIAMI -- The J.A. Happ redemption tour continues.

The newest addition to the Pirates' rotation made it three straight satisfying starts Monday night at Marlins Park, backing the visitors to a 5-2 win, their 10th in 12 games.

"The angle's been key," Clint Hurdle said. "It's just harder to hit when that ball's coming from a higher release point. Any pitching coach, any hitter will tell you. He was able to reclaim that after his first start."

Ah yes, that first start. On Aug. 4 against the Cubs at PNC Park, Happ didn't make it through the fifth, allowing four runs on nine hits. But after skipping a turn in the rotation to duck into Ray Searage's lab, Happ has rediscovered the form that earned a 2.30 ERA through four April starts with Seattle.

"Feeling good in my delivery," Happ said. "You have some success and get some confidence. I'm not perfect out there, but I'm hitting my spots more often."
