MATT
MIAMI -- The Pirates have faced a left-handed starter just 24 times in 124 games, but they're about to get more practice, as opponents are scheduled to deploy a lefty in four of the next five games.

The chance for more reps might be their lone positive takeaway after Miami lefty Brad Hand stifled them through eight-plus innings in Tuesday's 5-2 loss at Marlins Park.

As for negatives, there were a few as their five-game road win streak ended.

Start with too many fly balls in a spacious venue ill-suited for them. Ten of the 24 outs Hand recorded ended in an outfielder's glove, compared to nine groundouts and five strikeouts.
