MILWAUKEE -- The Pirates promoted six players from Class AAA Indianapolis -- catcher Elias Diaz, outfielders Travis Snider and Jaff Decker, and pitchers Bobby LaFramboise, Rob Scahill and Radhames Liz -- and all are here at Miller Park and available to play Tuesday night against the Brewers.
Diaz, Decker and LaFramboise were recalls, already on the 40-man roster. Snider and Liz had their contracts selected to be added. Scahill was reinstated from the 15-day disabled list. To create space on the 40-man pitcher Casey Sadler was recalled from the minor-league disabled list and placed on the major-league 60-day disabled list.
Don't ask. I'm sure it's all in the rules and, again, they're here.
Diaz, one of the system's top prospects and another outstanding Rene Gayo discovery out of the Dominican Republic, is the only one in the majors for the first time.
