JARED WICKERHAM, or ‘Wick,’ born in Pittsburgh and raised in Chautauqua Lake, N.Y., and Columbus, Ohio, is the staff photographer for DKPittsburghSports.com.
Career: Following a failed career in skateboarding, Jared landed in sports photography following internships with Getty Images, the Pirates, and the Tribune-Review newspaper in Greensburg while attending the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. In his three years as a staff photographer with Getty in Boston, he photographed everything from the daily New England sports coverage of UConn, Boston College, Celtics, Bruins, and Patriots, to the Boston Marathon bombing and the inspired Red Sox championship run that ensued. However, Pittsburgh and the family he developed here while in college drew him back.
Along with telling visual stories for DKPittsburghSports.com, Jared is a freelancer covering local and national news and sports for various global outlets. Wick’s resume includes the Sochi Olympics, Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Finals and Stanley Cup.
Personal: Jared lives in Lawrenceville and, when he’s not running up and down the sidelines at Heinz Field or PNC Park, he’s helping his three-time champion PSL soccer team achieve local dynasty status.
