Pirates’ bats extend All-Star break by a day

Yeah so Pedro missed a ball a high school player makes 95% of the time

Yup Pedro made an error. Still no offence so is the error the reason for the loss? If he makes that play do the bats catch fire? It was a terrible outing from the entire team. Can't blame one guy.

Good headline!

54 you win, 54 you lose, 54 make the difference. Don't know who said it first, but the first I remember is Mr Chuck Tanner. This one is one of the 54 you lose.

Morton's last 4 starts---24 innings pitched and a 4.89 ERA. And this was after the fiasco in Washington. In his past 18 innings pitched, he has 10 K's and 10 BB's while renewing his plunking tendencies of leading the league in that category in both 2013-14 despite only 46 starts in that 2 year span. The purpose pitch can be retaliatory move, for sure, but also enable rivals to score some runs.

Team looked flat in this game. Watching Pedro play defense continues to be frustrating. Offense went back into snooze mode. Hopefully management is working feverishly to make a deal that will add some oomph to the offense.

I dunno. I was hoping the break wouldn't coll off the bats. Well, they have had many games like this throughout the season. Hopefully, this is just a ittle bump in the road. Pedro....

As much as I dislike Pedro, he makes the 3-6-3 throw much better than GI Jones ever did.

How much longer til Josh Bell is ready to take over for K-Dro...

With the trade deadline coming, the Pirates have to look for a 1st baseman. Time to give up on Pedro. The guy can't play the field anywhere and he is not even a good power hitter anymore. He is killing this team.

Pedro continues to swing at junk and it's so frustrating. He intimidates no pitcher. Unacceptable.

Ok

Part of me says, here we go again, with a poor performance at Miller Park and another game when a mediocre pitcher shut the team down. I'll be optimistic, and say this one was because of rustiness. and we'll get them this weekend. At least that's what I'm telling myself

That headline is hilarious. It just wasn't our day, we looked terrible from the get go. The team was probably tired from reading all the national attention DK is getting

they need a 1b, i mean a real one

test

Everything was flat last night, but the trade deadline need is obvious, and frankly very strange. How often is your first baseman a defensive liability? Not often. And if Pedro's offense was solid maybe it'd be enough to absorb the record-setting error pace. But the offense is brutal too, as highlighted by the great earlier piece on this site. Time to make a move, Neil. Even just to shore up the defense at first. This team is too good to waste wins on a project that's gone on for far too long.

In my opinion (!), part of his problem is conditioning. If there is ever a Pedro Alvarez resurgence, one of the areas it will begin is his fitness level improving. And it's not an offseason thing, posing for the cameras at David Price Vandy Camp. It has to be a full on lifestyle change.

Whether his bat and glove improves, I don't know. But he can get healthier. Whether he wants to or not, is part of the other problems. Which are between the ears.

Love the headline! I thought the same thing before the game even ended. What a snoozer...

Unreal, how the base running gaffs continue. Walker in a no brainer doubled off on second, on a line drive that spelled out from the beginning. And not even close. Is there one pirate that is smart on the base paths?
