Final: Pirates 7, Nationals 5

No, not till tomorrow. But we are batting Florimon in the 8 hole, so it's like we have 2 pitchers batting in the lineup.

Nationals Lineup

CF Michael Taylor (R)
3B Danny Espinosa (S)
RF Bryce Harper (L)
C Wilson Ramos (R)
1B Clint Robinson (L)
SS Ian Desmond (R)
LF Tyler Moore (R)
2B Dan Uggla (R)
P Max Scherzer (R)

Pedro x2.

I would take 8 K's, since that would mean they got through the lineup 4 times.

Good observation Demon!

Just got the MLB notification. It's a done deal.

I wanted Bucs to get him in offseason but it didnt happen. Looks like he had down year anyway.

Rosenthal almost blew another save last night, so they may be looking towards next year too with Cishek.

Pirates picked up two closers who down and turned things around, Hanrahan and Melancon

Maybe JAL. The Searage fairy dust hasn't worked on Bastardo.

bpn8pitt, was referring to Cishek struggling this year

I'm kinda happy cishek wasn't the Bucs bullpen pickup but now that he will be sprinkled with St Louie magic dust he will probably be lights out.

Rumor has it we kicked the tires on Cishek also -http://www.bucsdugout.com/2015/7/24/9036891/pirates-trade-rumors-bucs-reportedly-tried-to-deal-for-steve-cishek

I've always been a big fan of Mitch Moreland of Texas. 29 years old with a career .270 that can hit 20+ HR a year when healthy, great size and glove. Wanted to grab him last year instead of Ike Davis at the deadline. Wish the Rangers would just roll over and die already so the Buc's could swoop in. There's also Adam Lind which would be an option. I'm assuming he would of been packaged with Ramierez if there was any chance.

Great point Milo....totally ridiculous that they didn't back Hughes on that.

Wouldn't they be taking "sides" if they did that? They represent both folks

Just curious, what brought this question up today? Didn't it happen a long while ago?

Bingo Biz. We'll do what's right only when it's really easy. What a bunch of hypocrites.

Stephen - Colin Cowherd stuck his foot in his mouth (go figure) about Dominicans and they are all over him with guns a blazing. But not a peep back then.

Milo, Cowherd said that on his nationally syndicated radio show. Big difference. There's no he said/she said or accusation. They're not the same thing.

Cole - you are right. They are different. Today's was easy. Hughes/Phillips wasn't. Typical.

Milo, I understand your point is that it's difficult and doesn't serve their interests so they don't bother. And that those types of accusations are dangerous. But I have no clue how they could actually resolve it. Don't think the teams or players would be cooperative to an investigation...

People like cowherd make ESPN unwatchable and why I don't watch it at all except for games. The talking head crap is beyond nauseating They say stuff just to be provocative and it often doesn't even make sense. Cowherd Stephen a smith and skip Bayless have taken over and it sucks.

Thanks Milo…typically my head was in the sand all day.
Have to say I like Dominicans. Franciscans and Benedictines are nice too, though my favorites are the Capuchins (sadly they didn't invent cappuccino, but it's named after the color of their habits)

Jesuits?? ;)

It will go up tonight. He's do for a more typical four runs in five innings game.

Sorry, but he's not my favorite Pirate pitcher.

(Speaking of which I'd take Ollie Perez back, instead of Bastardo).

No and no. He has never played there and I doubt they would when he returns...he's too short.

Agreed...he's way too small of a target.

Can't understand why so many keep bringing up Harrison (super-utility guy, yes) as a possibility at 1st. I mean, I could probably look him in the eye, and I'm 5 ft. tall. So - NO, not an option.

I blame video games.

Did you happen to catch this little note?

"The Red Sox have received no trade interest in struggling first baseman Mike Napoli, says Heyman,"

I certainly did. Guess we can scrap that idea, huh??

Huntington is something of a ninja in his ability to pull trades without the big guys getting word, but I was more surprised at what that would seem to say about how low Napoli's perceived value has dropped.

Nats, Cards, Pirates, Rays, Angels, 'stros could all use a righty bat at 1B/DH.

That was my thought on Napoli as well...he has really fallen. You're right about Huntington though. He is a ninja. I still wouldn't be surprised if he works a deal for Napoli. Looks like the O's may put Chris Davis on the block too.

I want Chris Davis just to see Hurdle's head explode.

Chris Davis can play right field too

Haha....yeah, Hurdle knows him all to well from their Ranger days.

If I was tech savvy, you'd be seeing a pic of Huntington in a ninja outfit right here.

They'll have Davis shooting balls through the Tony Gwynn hole between the shortstop and 3rd baseman. This is why they can't have nice things.

He was signed by the Pirates as a 16-year-old in 1994, came up through our system and played here for the better part of six years. I would say his return qualifies as a homecoming.

Fair point on coming up through the system. I didn't consider that aspect of it.

One of the saddest days in my opinion for a Pirate fan was when Aramis and his salary were dumped by Littlefield - he has had a very nice career since then and for all of you Pedro haters is hard to imagine the Bucs drafting Alvarez had they had AR at third at the time.

For an AA and an high A pitcher
