Final: Nationals 9, Pirates 3

Thanks JAL

Why not Ishikawa at first ???

Gio is a lefty

Biz, you are welcome

Nationals Lineup:
1. Michael Taylor (R) CF
2. Anthony Rendon (R) 2B
3. Bryce Harper (L) RF
4. Yunel Escobar (R) 3B
5. Clint Robinson (L) 1B
6. Ian Desmond (R) SS
7. Jose Lobaton (S) C
8. Matt den Dekker (L) LF
9. Gio Gonzalez (R) P

Right, Gio a lefty. The lineup gives batting side, Gio bats right an throws left

Even when Pedro is hot ... Hurdle refuses to give him a chance ... but a glove at first over a chance Pedro hits a lefty might be best ...

Didn't Hurdle just say that Pedro should play against lefties to get some ABs?

Only thing that makes sense here is if Pedro is about to be dealt.

Guess the "trying to keep the hot bat in the lineup" mantra is not in affect on Saturdays?

I agree. He can't do any worse than Rodriguez and need the AB's against lefties. If he's still on the team he won't be playing in the Wild Card game then.

Hell they didn't start Alvarez last Sunday against a righty on a afternoon game while also sitting Cutch. You want to talk asinine now that was asinine.

Because he can't hit lefties. He can't hit them when he's hot, and he can't hit them when he's not. Toss in the fact that he can't field either, and it's a pretty simple decision.

He can hit lefties as well as SRod hits anyone Sisyphus.

I kinda agree with you bpn

Unless Pedros on the move, Biz. I don't know.

Sorry, Dali.

Its not just happening to you, bpn

Speaks volumes...

Pedro is the fall guy. Nothing they do with him will make sense

Note to self: Get eyes checked.

My favorite Pirate's in there tonight. Go A.J!

This is silly Sean Rod had a nice first month and has done nothing since - he has the lowest WAR - worse than Hart - Pedro at least has a punchers chance - why not let him get 3 opportunities to hit the river

Wrong.

The OPS numbers this year vs. lefties:

Rodriguez - .602
Alvarez - .433
Ishikawa - .000

For their careers:

Rodriguez - .736
Alvarez - .579
Ishikawa - .589

Rodriguez is the best of them this year, and he's the best of them for his career.

Cut it out, Sisyhus. Clint doesn't know what he's doing. 👨

What's Rodriguezs BA and OPS in July?

Two HR in two days versus a guy who,has been below the Mendoza line for the last month - Sean Rod need to be dfad

No surprise there.

His value is higher now than all season, maybe a deal is in the works.

Someone said the Angels might be interested?

Could be Biz....but I think they are more interested in OF help.

Just a useless piece of info for your enjoyment.

Thanks Rick. Enjoy tidbits like this.

I remember he left on a cruise right before the last day to sign with the PBC

Wasn't it a free cruise on Derek Bell's 58-foot yacht, Operation Shutdown?

+++
Kang has been a consistently good surprise.

Jung Ho is the man..... agreed. Like that guy.

Can make an argument for team MVP at this point

He has been there when we needed him and he plays hard nose ... which some of these boys still need to learn

I think Marte likes being in the 2 spot.

Better than Morel and Serpico.

Bow fo get their on base percentages and OPS and watch which one becomes more desirable.

Now go get...man I hate typing on a phone.

The guy that drives in the most runs, that's who. Ramirez bats fourth all year and Pedro 6th

I know it's a cruel joke that thats all NH could come up with ... I guess we are banking on attitude and desire to make the last year of his career count ... his number are sad ... but they were a lot worse a month ago ... he has caught a little fire of late ... we only need a little out of him

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with Ramirez move. Huge upgrade.

Ramirez OBP - .295
Alvarez OBP - .302

Ramirez OPS - .725
Alvarez OPS - .736

They're pretty much the same hitter this year, except Pedro strikes out twice as often and Ramirez hits into DP's six times as often.

Ramirez trending up. Kinda like Lee a few years ago.

No idea why Ramirez would be compared to Alvarez. Rami replaces Brett Morel for God sake. They don't play the same position.

I Believe since he was DFAd he is technically unemployed until he clears waivers and the Pirates resign him to minor league contract or someone else claims him.

I am a Alvarez detractor .... but he seems to have a swing going ... lefty or not .... put him in there ...

A sucky Alvarez is still better than Sean Rodriguez.

So Florimon gave up a number for him but Leyva wouldn't ... Ramirez showed class in explaining it simply .... my guess he asked and Nick said no ...

Nick Leyva so important that the useless first base coach won't give up a number to a player?? Sheesh!!!!

Well ... after all he did play parts of 3 seasons in the minor leagues ... and lost 57% of his games as a manager ... and was horrible as our 3rd base coach .... no need to let a hall of fame 3rd baseman finish out the last few months of his career with the number he has worn his whole career!

Ridiculous. Remember Leyva took a leave of absence earlier this year for personal reasons. Wonder what's up

Maybe, just maybe, out of respect for Nick Leyva, Ramirez declined his old number. Just something to think about.

. . . or maybe Leyva expected cash.

Declined his number? ... but asked another player for a number he's never worn .... i think it's just a stubborn old man ... unhappy with his move to 1st base coach ... being a not so nice guy!

Let a has worn #16 his entire career as well. My guess is that Rammer respects that fact and didn't ask for it....but only Leyva and Rammer know the details. I just think it's silly to slam Leyva for something we don't know the details of.

Leyva's entire career consisted of 3 poor years as a minor leaguer and a manager who lost 57% of his games and a suspect 3rd base coaching job ... vs ... a HALL OF FAMER!
