Great show today.

Listened to the first half of the show (which I'd missed live) here on podcast. As one caller said, 'from your lips to the coaches' ears!'
I don't get the misuse of Malkin. Everything that I see (on the ice) and read tells me that he really is a team guy; but, he can't be happy with this decision. And, I know the team's success doesn't depend on keeping players 'happy'; but taking one of the best players, and one of the best energy guys on the team, off an already struggling power play, cannot be the answer. As you said, change the STRATEGY!
The Pens had 4 minutes of PP time Sunday; and Malkin was only out there for a little over a quarter of that time. That's just insane.
And, yes, I absolutely have him out there with the shootout, too. He has missed his last couple attempts; but he has been significantly better than Letang over last year and this year.
The whole thing is incomprehensible. Aside from Fleury, and perhaps Crosby, the Pens are going to need Malkin more than anyone in the playoffs. Now is not the time to show him that they don't value him.

Only thing incomprehensible was:

1. not taking Letang off #1 PP and inserting Pouliot full time

OR

2. not removing 4th forward and leaving those two with Malkin, Hornie and Sid

Much prefer Option #1.

On the whole Geno thing.....there have been plenty of head scratching decisions from this coaching staff for a long time. If this is what it takes to get some notice, then great.

On PP strategy, one thing agree upon is movement. Too often our 5 are nailed to their assigned quintant. So would like to see some floating as between Geno and Sid on occasion.

Beyond that, we're overcomplicating it. Believe it IS much more about personnel than strategy, distilled to two elements:

1. Not enough shots on net. Some might call that a "strategy" but see it as purely skill.
2. Too many passes that off the mark (even slightly) or to players not in position to receive pass or to do anything with it once received.

To me, those are THE keys. And that's solved by personnel on ice: their skills, decision-making and ability to create time/space.
