Florida State 61, Pitt 52

Not sure if it's Jeter or the offense not utilizing Jeter.

Rather than comment on the dreck I'm watching, I would rather just compliment bpn on that sweet avatar.

Thanks Milo...this has been a trainwreck offensively.

I've never seen that Clemente photo!

If he'd chosen that profession, he'd have been a hall of fame soldier too, no doubt.

Pitt is shooting 13-41 from the floor. I think that's not quite 50%.

It was nice to see Newkirk on the scoresheet. But the truth is, they just aren't a good team with him on the floor.

I think it was Nwankwo's day in the rotation.

Cogent analysis.

Very cogent analysis. I like the idea of going small, and Newkirk certainly looked like he had been energized somewhat. Disappointing.

Not a cogent analysis...

I'm not ready to call for Dixons head yet. He certainly deserve some patience after all the success of the last decade.

But to me, Brandin Knight and Bill Barton are fair game. Both on the recruiting trail and player development...Rohrssen is likely to get a head coach job again soon. I don't think Herrion is coming back...But to me it might be time to spend on a top notch recruiter and a veteran instructor, maybe even with an NBA background. If they spent for Narduzzi assistants they can open the checkbook for Jamie. If a big change comes in the next 12-18 months it will be the assistants.

What do you call 1 NCAA Tourney win the past 4 years, all with a supposedly "solid" program and "great" coach?!?! Progress?!?!

And your next "cogent analysis" will be your first. Try forming your own opinions rather than latching on to other peoples, champ.

My word. You seem like a lovely person.

This is the best Duke team since '98.

I think the 2001, 2010 teams would disagree.

I honestly don't even think Brian Zoubek and Jon Scheyer's grandparents would argue that they were better than Okafor and Winslow… That's why tournament results are not the right metric to follow when evaluating an overall body of work. They caught the right bracket and rode it to the title. Other years, with superior teams, Duke has lost to lower seeded opponents. It happens to everybody, almost every year, but around here, people think it's an anomaly.

I got to see Sean Miller and Jerome Lane play. To this day, a couple of those Paul Evans teams were the best I saw. I also spent a lot of time watching some bad Ralph Willard teams. Favorite Pitt player of all time is still Chad Varga. :)

I'm with you on the disappointment. His teams have been bounced too much by lower seeded teams in the tourney to often for me. Thing is though, who do you replace him with? Pretty sure Calipari and Miller are out of reach if your looking local.

I'm also one of those guys that wanted Wannstadts head. And although I still believe that was the right move, the actual execution of replacing him set the football program back a decade.

That's the thing, you can replace Dixon but you better get it right. You screw it up, could take years to correct. I'm all ears if you got a viable candidate.

IDK, bpn. That's the Pitt A.D.'s job, not mine. All I'm saying is J.D. isn't the only guy who'se capable to coach and lead this program.

Case in point; They found Dean Smith's replacement Roy Williams. That turned out pretty well, wouldn't you say?

Let's see what Dixon does with Young, Artis and Co. See what he brings in recruiting wise 2016,2017....I'm not ready to give up on him yet, but there is a feeling out there the program has peaked, circa 2009.

Well, amazing thing is Pitt doesn't have an Athletic Director right now. I got nothing...

UNC had Matt Doherty in between Dean Smith and Roy Williams.

Which to me is the mistake Pitt has to avoid if they do get rid of Jamie.

They had Bill Guthridge as well as Doherty. And they didn't find Roy Williams. He went to school at UNC and worked for Dean Smith for 15 years before he went to Kansas. Sheesh. But maybe Roy wants the Pitt job.

I'm sure it will be easy to find a top guy who would want to come here if they were to fire a guy who has done nothing but win consistently year after year at a program that was completely in the dregs before he arrived. In other words, I do not think Sean Miller is interested. He's in a great situation in a basketball-mad city with an appreciative fan base.

Again, I'm not calling for Dixon head JR. But its more than fair to criticize the tourney results and recent recruiting classes.

As I said on another blog, this young team narrative being written isn't fair to the rest of the ACC...they have two good scorers in Artis and Young. The rest is open to debate.

Okay, so whose tourney results and recruiting are better than Pitt's? Duke, Kentucky, UNC, Michigan State, Kansas, Arizona, etc. None of those coaches are going anywhere. The rest of the schools in the country would desperately run to the front of the line to trade places with Pitt in the Dixon era.

All snarky comments aside, I'm interested in how long some of the baseball threads will get. Especially if things get ugly.
