Sharks 2, Penguins 1, SO

That's my biggest concern, too. Pens are toast in the playoffs if MAF isn't fresh

Pens had yesterday off and do not play again until Thursday.

This idea of playing Fleury too much is over the top. Fleury playing 2 games in 8 days is NOT too much!!

Well, playing 78% of the starts is the 6th highest in the NHL, but the period to rest him was earlier in the season.

Greiss has played 14? games this season? Sitting Fleury not only gets him added rest, it also lets Greiss get extra work in case he's needed later. And it was only a couple seasons ago that I think they did wear Flower down before the playoffs started

And it's not just physically that he could be worn down...need to allow him to be mentally rested and ready, also

Fleury is 9th in Games Played in NHL as goalie.

Holtby of Wash, Schneider of NJ, Quick of LA, Rask of Boston, Price of Montreal, Luongo of Fla, Rinne of Nashville——all top-notch goalies——have started more. Lunqvist was also ahead of Fleury until head/neck injury.

Yunz guys are being reactionary.

What would help Fleury more would be some offense, to give him breathing room in the games he plays!!!

I'd certainly take more offensive production from the Pens, as long as it doesn't come at the expense of the defense they've been playing

MAF is the least of our problems. I wouldn't stress.

Hahaha...this made me lol

(Raises hand)

Million dollar athlete 10c brain.
He's having a great year though, compared to recents, and wonderful that he's returned from his stroke. But these blips are just all part of what we get for 7.25 mil. And for that price they shouldn't be.

He has been much better this year

Wasn't Letang 3rd in Norris voting in 12-13?

So what?

Subban has won it, not exactly who I think of when I think of best defenseman

Not a top 6er anymore. Has had a good shift or two this game, one good defensive play I saw where he battled. But he just kills possessions and controls, like that pass he bobbled all the way of of the zone down to Fleury. He needs too much time and room to do what he does, it happens when you get older.
He could still contribute , but not Top6 minutes vs top D pairs and tougher matchups.

Yes, we'd love to have the Kunitz who was 4/5 years younger, but we don't, and there aren't better options on this year's team. That said, Malkin has certainly taken off offensively since Kuni was moved to his line. Instead of dwelling on mistakes (which every player makes some during a game)/ shortcomings of an older Kunitz, I think it's more troubling that an in his prime Sutter makes even less contributions

Yea not a good penalty for sure

That's why I'd take Adams not being scratched over Downie

I don't want to agree with you, Scott, because Downie has more offensive skill, but penalties like that can't come in games like this.

I know he has more offensive skill, but you can't take penalties like that in close games, especially when they get to the playoffs. I'll take the trade off because Downie consistently does that over and over again

I will say that I am not seeing much out of Bennett. He needs to battle more.

Certainly was

I would have gone to Pouliot after Malkin. Downie??? Oh well. Great game. 2 points would have been nice, but Pens are definitely playing strong hockey.

I'm surprised Downie shot, but Hornqvist, he is a volume shooter not really a skilled one.

Um, Bennett is a highly skilled player and very nearly won the game on his chance. Though I agree that the choice of Downie over the two you mentioned, and also Comeau, is a little puzzling. Probably just playing a hunch.

I'm it questioning Bennett as much as Downie, however I will still say that I would have taken Honrqvist, Comeau, or Pouliot before Bennett any day. Great move, but the inability to finish seems to be the story of his season as of late. I'll take the point though. It was still an awesome game to watch. Haha

Great interpretation! This one stings because it feels like they had more than enough chances to put it home, but sometimes the cards don't fall that way. I'll take 5 out of 8 here any day.
