Coverage: There goes Tabata

Too bad for Tabata. The magnifying glass of pro-sports has found another ember to burn. I remember reading his name, etc. over the the recent fewer years, and well, he just aint got it. Simple. No problem, he and we move on.

Along with a magnifying glass, he has less drive than my old beat-up Ford Taurus. Some people have the desire to learn and improve at their craft. He got the money and only played when he wanted to. The irony of the situation is that the Insanity Max30 workout system that I have have a series of workouts that require effort, strength and power called Tabata. I guess that's the only thing in Pittsburgh named Tabata that come with strength and power.

Sometimes signing a player early works well, sometimes it fails. Tabata certainly looked like a potential solid player his first season, not much power but at supposed age 21 reasonable to expect some power to develop. It was clear no wanted him last season when the Pirates DFAed him and no one made a claim.

Anyone but Tabata.

I'd rather have an energetic 4th outfielder who can get on base consistently, than a guy with "power potential." Plenty of guys like Lambo have come and gone from the AAAA landscape. Give Decker his chance. Maybe his energy off the bench fuels the Bucs to a couple extra wins.

I remember all the baseball types saying Tabata made a mistake taking the extension when he did. Oops.

Good stuff there John on Tabata. I thought there might have been a chance in trading him. Looked like he was getting playing time to try and show case him?

Jose Tabata = Simon Despres

Let him be at Indy ,, if he gets hot ,, bring him up ,, simple as that ,, there's no reason a player can't move up n down in the system

I'm not surprised, the Yankees were more than willing to give up on him a long time ago. Our GM is really not a great judge of position players esp. young guys if you look at outfield he had little 2 do with that and Walker was supposed to be a bench guy but proved them wrong. Maybe they should give the scout who found Polanco and Marte the job.

mom

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Tabata misspelled his name endorsing a paycheck.

Tabata's ship sailed years ago. They're stuck with him and that's old news. The fact that he can't beat out Jaff Decker is disappointing.

Jose was good but the problem with dude is " Mental " Ever since his ex wife lied about the baby being his .
Man , He's suppose to be the Man Ram but he's a bust as a pirate for real

I was at the game a couple years back when the Pirates clinched losing season #20 (seems like a long time ago now, doesn't it?). I still have unpleasant flashbacks of Tabata gimping from first to third and getting thrown out by a mile.

Looks like he got the last laugh on Huntington. Gonna get paid 8.5 MM for the next two years to be a bum. Not quite Derek Bell like but must be nice.

Thx 4 the insights on Tabata's trade prospects. The kind of inside Info. we're looking 4. Too bad he is so immovable. Oh well.... can't win 'em all.
I prefer Decker over Lambo. Look at the bench so far, we have power, Hart, Kang, and somewhat Rodriguez. What we don't have is a good on base guy. Decker fits the bill.
