Love the setting for the morning Java, makes me homesick, although my memories of the northside were a vast wasteland, 3 rivers stadium & the bridge to nowhere. Much nicer now. Pats may bitch & moan but don't want to do anything that will shine more public light on their antics, nor will Brady or Kraft takie this to a civil court where everything could become public A reduction to a 2 game suspension would be a miscarriage of justice (mostly due to the ongoing history of cheating) but probably inevitable. NHL will not have real change in the game without new leadership & power structure. One game calling obstruction is no indication of fundamental change. The games will have to get ugly with a lot of penalties again before teams accept the rules enforced as written. But called penalties will eventually open up the game & that is when there will be real flow & something on the ice that resembles hockey.
That's the kind of attitude that will keep the NHL as a far fourth in the big four sports leagues. That's the clue they need to get.

I started watching hockey in the 70s. This brand of hockey is boring. It's the safe mindset of the NHL coaches defensive systems and lack of calls that has brought the game back to late 90s drudgery.
Over 50% of the game is played along the boards. Didn't used to be that way.

I've got a clue and I've been watching hockey for 30 years. The current product stinks! Either they open the game up or my dollars are gone. Trust me, they'll pay plenty of attention to us when our money isn't in their pocket.

I am not watching the Stanley Cup Playoffs until the Rangers are eliminated.
Which is why I was saying, even before the Pens came out to back Johnston and Rutherford, that there was no way the Pens would match the truckload of money Toronto would be able and willing to dump on Babcock's front yard.
Babcock was either going to go for the better chance at a Cup (the Wings) or he was going to cash in (the Leafs). He took the money.

The Morning Java feature is back and sunnier than ever, as at least the backdrop on this edition should illustrate.
