Pregame notes 6:25 p.m.: Keeper roulette continues to spin at Highmark, with rookie Ryan Hulings getting another start. First-stringer Ryan Thompson went through a pregame workout, but his strained back still isn’t healed enough. “It’s close, but can’t push it,” Thompson said. The 30-year-old will be leaving Pittsburgh next week to join the Jamaican national team in Chile for the Copa America international tournament. First-year pro Calle Brown (knee) was a surprise scratch for Wednesday’s 1-0 third-round U.S. Open Cup win over Tampa Bay, leaving the duties to Hulings, who recorded his second straight shutout. … Wing back Matt Dallman appeared to be rounding into form during a 2-1 victory at Richmond last Saturday, but he was listed as inactive for the second game in a row. Dallman missed the first four USL matches this season while recovering from hip surgery, but the 2013 league assists leader is without a point this year. … Midfielder Kevin Kerr is the only Riverhound to play in every minute of all nine USL games this season, and he was in his typical hyperdrive mode for the entirely of Wednesday’s thriller. With a fifth game in 15 days looming Saturday, how fresh are his legs? “When you’re winning and things are going your way, you don’t get tired.” he said. … Rookie forward Max Touloute, inactive for the past several matches, was seen pregame wearing an oxygen deprivation mask to aid his training on a steamy evening.
