Harrison has thumb surgery, out seven weeks

That has evidently become an epidemic in the nfl.

One more class at the rookie symposium. Something they tell you in elementary school.

that idiot had his index finger amputated today!

and maybe you'll be a real fan by then ...

Well this real fan wants a real upgrade at a premium power position. JHay & Pedro have the same OBP and before tonight almost the same number of errors. I just see 3B as a weakness.

Capital letters intimidate me so thank you for putting me in my place...... I see you as the greatest Pirates fan that's ever lived. I see myself going to bed humbled. I see clearly now the rain is gone. I see you as being a true friend, maybe even best man at my wedding.

Maybe JHay's lady, cause she's sick of singles and wants some homeruns. At the very least getting to second more often. I'm going to go listen to some Meat Loaf now.....

This is my favorite site on the web. And there is no second place. But man Pittsburgh 21, what a hostile unmitigated jerk you can be. Are all of these personal insults necessary? We're all Pirate fans. We all love DK's site. Who grows up and/or was raised to conduct oneself the way you do? It's frankly unbelievably embarrassing. I wish you weren't from Pittsburgh....

Ishikawa was on the bench for the world champs last year.

That's a good question. 7 weeks is a long time not playing baseball.

I don't get why the Pirates never considered re-signing Byrd.

He'd have held down rf until Polanco was ready and could have been a first base platoon/4th of afterward--the money wasn't too much, and the production was still there.

They tried and were outbid ridiculously! We wanted him back!

What the Phillies paid him was not unreasonable and something the Pirates could have afforded.

I agree they might have been able to keep Byrd. But would they have been able to resign Liriano or Burnett, or others down the road. They had at that time last year Snider and Tabata, which would bridge the gap to Polanco.

I'm not saying they were right or wrong. Just a lot of hindsight for me there.

I realize he's a fan favorite but I respectfully disagree that he solidified the position. He has 9 errors, a very low OBP, and has no power (which this team needs from the "power" positions). I'm hoping Kang can do better than Harrison has because this team is instantly better if JHay is the first an off the bench. He is the best super utility guy in MLB hands down.
