KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Here are all four video segments of KDKA-TV’s ‘Sports Showdown’ last night, this episode focusing on the Pirates and great female athletes. I was joined on panel by Colin Dunlap and Jeff Hathhorn of 93.7 The Fan. Guest host: Josh Taylor.
I met Colin a few years back when he had just taken over as beat writer for the Pirates from DK. Intense, yes, but nothing like this. I believe that he has taken on this persona as his "role" on The Fan to attract listeners as being the nasty one. He was ridiculous in the first clip.
The Fan's basic premise, it seems is to have their "talent" be in conflict with someone (usually the other folks on the same show) to demonstrate how edgy they are. Guys who actually know something like Hathorn or Pompeani play secondary roles.
