Five Qs at 5: Martavis, Sammie, LT, Tampa 2

The multiple look defense and how it's performed to date begs the saying, "Jack of all trades, master of none"

To 'Jim Lahey:' If you're here to troll, Jim, say so right now. I'm not interested in this kind of crap. You want to talk sports, talk sports. You want to attack people's integrity and professionalism -- and this is far from the only example -- as well as attacking other readers, and you'll be banned.

Take your pick.

RE: Brady starting the season.

It really comes down to this. If the Judge drags his feet and doesn't rule until Thursday or so, SI's Michael McCann is reporting that it would be very difficult (not impossible, but close) for all the paperwork to get in for Brady's appeal so he could play in Week 1 (That's if he rules in favor of the NFL, something that seems likely considering the NFLPA agreed to have Goodell as the arbiter for appeals and well, he ruled to uphold the suspension).

I'm not 100% convinced if Brady loses, he can get the appeal in on time. Now if he wins, of course he's playing, and well DK, Neal, et al, am I wrong in being scared that if the 3 headed Buffalo monster put up only 3 incompletions on us, what a VERY angry Tom Brady will do?

Our secondary looks so shaky right now, Tampa 2 or man to man

Here I was thinking Coates was insurance for Brown costing too much.

No one replaces Bryant. First 6 weeks of 2014 this team was at a pace in points per drive and TDs per drive to finish in the bottom third of the league.
Week 7-16 they were only slightly behind Green Bay in points and TDs for 2nd in the league. Over 30% of drives ended in TDs after Bryant got his hat, first six games were under 17%.
Bryant is the key to this offense carrying this team to a Super Bowl. I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I like that the Steelers take some draft chances on "character-risky" (and I am hypothesizing that is what Bryant was) but they can't then turn around and waste additional picks on frivolous players (3rd string QBs, mini-RBs, etc.). They need those guys to be solid pros to potentially step in and replace the higher risk players.
