Very interested in seeing Morel in action at 3rd
Is it due to a lefty starting or Pedro’s bad knee?
Pretty certain it’s a combination of those two concerns. Let’s get off to a great start on this road trip, eh, Cholly?!
Yes?
Sounds like something in which I’ll be very disinterested.
Lets get ‘em early and often.
I vote for the good Charlie tonight.
Seconded
Reverend, if voting is too stressful, I say you skip it.
Glad you made it to the new blog, and hope you are doing well.
Very well. No stress.
From rotoworld.
Pedro Alvarez (knee) remained out of the Pirates’ lineup Friday.
Alvarez hasn’t played since exiting Tuesday’s game against the Dodgers with left knee discomfort.
Bench: Pedro, L
Snider, L
Martinez, S
Davis, L
Stewart, R
Could be rough if they use lefty relievers.
Cubs now lead St.Louis in the 7th.
7 – 6
Cubs now only three outs away!
Need to get off on a quick start on this road trip, can’t keep throwing away games against the bottom rung teams.
The Pirates have always seemed to struggle in the thin air of Denver. That needs to end this weekend. 2 out of 3 would be very nice.
Charlie needs to channel his dog for good juju tongiht.
Oh, and what to do with Alvarez. Yikes.
Greetings Planster. Have Jandy or Brandie been seen here yet?
Billy, — Jandy, yes, Brandie, no.
Hope Brandie makes it here ……. she brings the laughs.
Hey friends!!!
New blog. New handle. Still the same obnoxious, irreverent me!
Major props to Dejan for leaving security and paycheck behind to embark on this endeavor! Something human to love explorers and innovators! Buena Suerte, Boss!
This really is gutsy of DK. Hope it takes off, and I’m sure there’s going to be growing pains. Kinda fun to get in on it fairly early.
Oshie !!
I cant picture the Pirate you have as an avi.
Matt Alexander??
Hey Plan!
Miguel Dilone.
Oooooh!
My guess was as bad as the Sixers this year!
Good to see you make it.
Glad you’re here, Osh.
Great to see you Osh!
The Cubs beat the Cards. Now to take full advantage!
Cubs win 7-6 so Bucs have 2nd place at least for a few hours.
I knew Morel’s career would mushroom!
I hear Brett is a fun gi.
nice. +++
He has seen some real growth.
Are we supposed to have a contest with these upvotes and downvotes? If so, I’d like to win.
Just gave ya one.
Hey! I had 5 votes a minute ago! Someone (dum dum DUM) downvoted me. I am hurt. Someone give a fella an upvote.
Thanks DK: missed having a game blog!
Fox Sports MLB columnist Ken Rosenthal is reporting the Pirates and Giants are scouting the David Price – John Lester pitching matchup tonight.
Pirates too cheap for both of them!
I’d say Price since I think was a teammate of Pedro at Vandy.
He was.
Rosenthal is one of the best, but is he sure the Bucs and Giants aren’t watching other players?
Also Orioles, Braves, Nationals, Cubs have top scouts at game.
Glad the game blog is back. Now let’s get a win Buccos since the Cards lost. Yest
That’s about as nondescript of an inning as you can have by the Pirates top of the order in the first inning.
Time for Charlie to play a tune against the Rockies.
It would be ironic if the Pirates traded Bell for Lester since the Bosox whined so bad about being aced out by the Pirates in the draft. Hopefully, the Pirates don’t do that.
Wasn’t that with Theo at the helm?
I think you’re right.
DK: Do you think Huntington would care about this regarding a trade?
History? No, why?
I didn’t think so, either. It was an interesting wrinkle, though.
Serious Uncle Charlie right there.
Someone said earlier that since the Rays are only 4 games under .500 and still in the race, Price may not be available anyway.
I think Price won’t be dealt unless Tampa gets a huge return.
But, I have been wrong once (or twice) before ……… ask my dog.
You are right. Tampa knows what they are doing. Set your sights north of what they got for Shields.
A hit would be nice. Anybody? Beuler?
The Bucs sure have learned a lot from facing Anderson just a few days ago.
Rockies players should really be exempt from all offensive records unless their home/road splits are at least in the same galaxy.
Who gets first hit? MArtin solo HR is my call
Oops.
Wow, good for Walt Weiss, huh? That’s some big-league managing right there.
Yes. Like it. But Rocks are a mess. He won’t last the offseason.
Yep, the guy will likely hustle the rest of the season.
I’ve always wished they did a feature “what’s inside the cooler” of the starting pitcher.
Finally, a hit!
For anyone complaining about Bob Nutting, look up Dick Monfort owner of the Rockies. Especially his recent email diatribes with the fans and season ticket holders.
Is it a triple play?
Pro Football Talk says Mike Mitchell is on the PUP list already! What’s that about??
Ah, now I see it’s a groin problem, maybe a week out.
And I see DK had it in his notes all along. Should have known.
Rev, so far its the good Charlie
You voted wisely
Good to see.
Let’s get some runs already!!!!
Yes please check if Anderson’s robotic arm is ok. Wow. Big break there. Bucs could do absolutely nothing with that kid.
Sorry dude got a blister or something, but good riddance. Need to make a move on the new guy.
Time for the Bucs to be the. Bucs!
Well, at least Pedro isn’t going to the DL
Oh, oh
Pedro looked like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders there.
I think Chuck is out of gas but a good start for sure…
I just can’t get over how he absolutely guesses and swings no matter what. Even at a pitch that skidded on the ground across the plate.
I am surprised he stays in the game.
I’m shocked. Would have pinch hit lunchie and moved josh to 3b.
An “insurmountable” two-run deficit. Back to the good old days.
Stuck with Charlie one inning too long.
Could be ball game right there. Bucs showing nada at the plate today
The Rocky Mountains have never been good to us for some reason.
The fat lady is clearing her throat
Pedro just flat out sucks at 3b. Not sure they can play him there much more.
Alvarez needs to make that play.
No doubt he does. Flat footed weakness jump mistimed badly. Just ugly.
We’re talking high-leverage situation.
Well Tim said it. Not many 1-0 games at Coors. Frieri has to get the friggin ball down Just has to.
Fire Marshall Frieri says goodnight folks.
Hey, there’s only one out.
Time for some shoulder discomfort for Ernesto.
Still only one out. I like Frieri’s upside. Taking one for the team.
Switched to the mets brewers game. Few things better than brewers blowing 2 run lead in the 9th. kRod regressing.
Grilli only gave up one run yesterday.
Hope they have good showers at Coors, Bucs need to do that well tonight.
Martin looks like he just hurt his hand catching a pitch
Okay!!!! Everybody gets a h …. Okay, maybe not.
Good to get Martinez a K. Will pay dividends during high-leverage stretch run.
As I said wayyyyyy up top ^^^^^, Bucs ALWAYS struggle in Denver.
Maybe they should bring their own humidor?
Good Night, and lets get a W tomorrow.
Or, Sunday.
You are a prophet. Who’s going to win tonight and what will be the score?
Two grand slams. Come on. How hard is that?
Only good news is crew and cards lose too.
Just a bad game. Shower it off, wash rinse, repeat……
What to do with Frieri?
FIRE FRIERI!
Hi Karen, he’s too young to be fired, apparently has good stuff to. Let’s hope Ray can fix him. I’m starting to feel that no one can fix Pedro. He looks like he is taking some sort of psycho-active drug when he is up. Swing at things that just aren’t there.
Stu
Hi Stu! Actually agree about Frieri-as an OFF-season project. Don’t want to see him in another game unless we’re up by 10 runs! Agree, too, about Pedro.WOW-if he’s not seeing a sports psychologist, I fear he’s doomed! He’s a total MESS, & he telegraphs that on the field & at bat.
My guess is that Pedro is not happy playing in the Burgh anymore. Maybe he’s depressed. Maybe he wants out.
The Pirates are 29-18 in June and July, the best record in the NL Central. (Brewers: 25-23, Cards: 24-22, Reds: 26-22.) However, 22 of the 29 wins were against teams with winning averages below .500. The Bucs were 7-10 vs teams above .500. Soon, the schedule gets much tougher.
