DEJAN KOVACEVIC, DK ON PITTSBURGH SPORTS
So this is what happens when the site is a much bigger success than its boneheaded creator had anticipated?
Well, color me red. I could concoct all kinds of ways to blame the host for abruptly shutting down the site right at Major League Baseball’s trading deadline today at 4 p.m., or I could just tell you that I had set the traffic threshold too low for the opening month … and then forgot I had done so.
At any rate, the site was upgraded to a far superior cloud and can handle whatever traffic that comes this way, as should have been the case all along.
I apologize for this, I’ve learned from it, and I’ll have a column on the Pirates at the trading deadline up in less than a half-hour.
Thanks for your patience and support.
You’ve been in this barely a week. I, personally, haven’t gone to the shed & brought out my pitchfork over this. To be honest, I kind of expected this. Same thing happened with the first P-G blog either at trade deadline day or the Pedro draft. One of those. We all make errors.
Growing pains. We still love yinz.
Thank you for getting the site converted and running again as fast as you did. It is unrealistic for anyone to think that a new startup as ambitious as yours would not experience unexpected technical glitches. To your credit, you promptly communicated the issues and expectations.
When most of us have a glitch at work, it isn’t visible to the general public. Thanks for the quick resolution and prompt explanation.
its all good….growing pains are expected…
WELL , CONGRATS …
Site crashing because of too many users?
Sounds like a REALLY good problem to have!!
