  1. PlazMan says:

Get your popcorn ready boys and girls, Bret Morel is playing!

Hey, why isn’t the new guy playing? Oh that’s right, we didn’t get a new guy!

    1. Carp DFA’d by the Sox. Can he be worse than Ike. Probably so.

    2. EyeOnTheBurgh says:

You mean Brent Morel with the .083 batting average?

      1. PlazMan says:

That’s the one…waiting with baited breath for him to hit. ;)

Hurdle looked downright depressed on the pregame show when he was discussing Morel being in the line up tonight.

      2. EyeOnTheBurgh says:

Postgame, he’s now the Brent Morel with the .071 batting average. Amazing that he could go 1 for his next 11 and actually raise his average.

    1. AJS says:

Wow a downvote just for posting a line up. Seems someone just doesnt like you!

      1. JAL says:

Hope they were downvoting the lineup.

  3. JAL says:

  4. Zach says:

Anyone have info on why Gerrit Cole won’t start tomorrow in Indy?

    1. toochca says:

He is still listed as the starter. What did you hear/read?

      1. JAL says:

        Indianapolis Indians @indyindians
Tomorrow’s starter (8/2) at Victory Field will be LHP Rafael Perez. Had earlier been announced that Gerrit Cole would be starting for Tribe

      2. Cole’s still listed on their roster.

  5. Brent Morel?

Huntington and Hurdle should be embarrassed…

Next we can look forward to Robert Andino at SS…

  6. Keith says:

Anyone else wonder why the Cards traded offense for a bad starter? Seems like a bad trade to me.

    1. What offense – Craig was having an awful year – and Kelly was a one trick pony – has a great fastball and nothing else. Sox are praying Craig is not damaged goods – if he is what he has been this year they got screwed.

      1. cmat0829 says:

If NH had made that trade Mozeliak did, most on here would be howling. Lackey and Masterson, two guys with negligible upgrade over their current starters, AND giving up 2 guys currently on their 25 man, didn’t sound to me like ‘put them over the top’ moves.

  7. casciani.bj says:

    Any news on Cole?

    1. Zach says:

Tweeted out by some of the beat writers that he’s rejoining team to refine some things in his next bullpen session. No word on injury concerns

  8. DJ says:

Let’s start stackin’ some wins, boys.

    Let’s start tonight.

    1. No problem – we have the awesome Bret Morel in the line up – should be good for at least a dozen runs on his own.

  9. So Cole is not going to be back soon – the BMTIB strikes again – David Price was there for the taking.

    1. Keith says:

No, sounds like they wanted him toncome to the big club early to be ready to pitch.

      1. Really hope you are right – I am skeptical…

  10. Dejan Kovacevic says:

Found our broader problem: About 400 names were MISSING from the subscriber list. Crazy but true. They never actually made it through. I’m now typing ALL of them in. Will take a day or more!

    1. JAL says:

Wow 400 missing Call the FBI

      1. JuniataKid says:

        Call the IRS.

        Wait, no…

    2. Karen22 says:

WHOA! Hiding in plain sight! :)

  11. radio wave says:

Red sox dfa mike carp. Do bucs have interest?

    1. Jim S. says:

He’s been awful. Plus, Reds will have an earlier shot at him, among other teams.

    2. cmat0829 says:

      DEAR GOD I HOPE NOT.

  12. theplanisworking says:

Have to work in the AM.

Please root the Bucs to a win.

    DK — good luck typing.

    1. So the Plan is working?

      ;)

      1. theplanisworking says:

        Reverend, thank you !!!

        Have a great evening.
        Keep Jandy in line.

        :D

    2. Karen22 says:

      +++++++++++++++++++++

  13. Cberry88 says:

My laptop died 2 weeks ago but used my 7-year-old iPod touch to subscribe. DK, love the site and our input which you have heard and responded to.

Only problem I have is upvote/downvote ability. It just seems petty to me. Every opinion should carry the same merit, right or wrong.

    1. Cberry88 says:

And thank you from preventing double posts…cause…I’d never do that…

  14. tonychiu.pst says:

Buccos win NL Central, and face Reds in NLCS.

    1. cmat0829 says:

      REDS? DELUSIONAL.

  15. jss308 says:

query: if you are NOT gonna ship Pete Alvarez down to “work out the kinks” are you really helping win ball games with Brent Morel batting 8th? This is silly (now watch as Morel prob gets red hot)

    1. DJ says:

Yeah, Brent MoreZs blazing hot tonight.

      Sleepwalking.

  16. Rock says:

I’m so tired of watching Gaby do nothing. How’s his OPS vs lefties this year?

    1. AJS says:

Nmr posted something the other day showing it was similar to his career.

  17. Reading says:

Obviously, Pirates should have traded for Luna as the dominant lefty they need. Another batless game.

    1. Reading says:

Nuno not Luna. What do I know? Blinded by the hitless wonders.

  18. Reading says:

    ballgame.

  19. AJS says:

What a bs call. Starting to think standing ground yesterday was fine because nothing can help this nonsense.

  20. AJS says:

This team is done. Maybe just phoning it in after feelinv shafted by the gm yesterday and now by the home plate ump. Lots of bad body language. Even martin is air mailing throws.

  21. 12+88=6 says:

For the second straight night, the Bucs are getting shelled by a triple A lineup.

  22. Reading says:

As soon as Brown said dude was a Wild Things alum, I was thinking “perfect game through 7.”

  23. Reading says:

Whoa. Wait a minute. Somebody actually did something.

  24. DJ says:

    Test.

  25. DJ says:

If you’re Pedro, you should be utterly ashamed you’re powerless to help yourself and this club.

And it’s only gonna get uglier.

  26. radio wave says:

Like I said yesterday, feels like a trap series.

    1. Dejan Kovacevic says:

Or another word that rhymes with trap.

  27. Cberry88 says:

Can’t remember who said that this feels like a “trap series” but it certainly feels like it.

The season is not over, though, because a few sloppy games(or series).

We were doing good outta the break & started slumping. There’s no reason we can’t turn it around.

    1. Cberry88 says:

Geez Radio Wave, I shoulda waited before posting.

  28. 12+88=6 says:

I live in AZ… at the game right now. It is hard to believe the Pirates are the ones in playoff contention. They are being outplayed in all facets by a club that is completely rebuilding in midseason.

  29. AJS says:

Still getting nothing from Cutch. Harrison is turning back into a Pumpkin. Morel is garbage. Sniders out ther loafing and letting fly balls drop in front of him.
This team needs Pedro to be Pedro. And needs to get past what happened yesterday.

  30. AJS says:

Ike drives me nuts. What a cry baby.

  31. Reading says:

Now would be an opportune time for Cutch to go yard.

  32. Reading says:

    A Pedro jack might help.

  33. Reading says:

    Nice.

  34. Dejan Kovacevic says:

Good for Pedro. Really. Nice to see.

  35. Reading says:

    Off the mat.

  36. AJS says:

Me at the start of the inning: Ill give em one more at bat, but if they go down in order Im going to bed.

Guess im staying up a bit longer

  37. Reading says:

You can say, J Hay is coming back to Earth, and he’s K’d 10 times or so the last few games, but he got it going tonight with an opposite field triple. He makes things happen.

  38. Reading says:

And, after the uninspired first out in the 9th, J Hay makes something happen again.

  39. AJS says:

Cutch and Pedro must have read my post and got mad.

  40. Patrick(ri) says:

Cutch looks like he is running freely again–really good to see.

    1. Reading says:

He’s got that world class cruising speed again.

      1. aglebagel says:

I know that Billy Hamilton and Dee Gordon get all the fast-guy love these days, but I swear no one goes around third faster than Cutch. Thrilling to watch.

    2. Jim S. says:

Positive comments about the MVP are not allowed, Patrick. Don’t you know he is not doing anything?

  41. AJS says:

    Speechless. This is insane.

  42. Reading says:

Announcers flabbergasted that dude is being left out there to take one for the team.

  43. Reading says:

Can Davis make first and last out?

  44. WarHorse says:

No better way to start the day (as you all are finishing yours) than to wake up at 5AM over here in England, turn on the Pirates game, and watch live from the 7th inning as they completely turn around what was looking like a loss into a big win. Yes.

  45. Reading says:

I know it’s a five-run lead, but come on. Another choice for the mound.

    1. Reading says:

      Okay. Overreacted. Nice job.

  46. Reading says:

Has Martinez ever shagged fly balls?

  47. Rock says:

We got em with the rope a dope tonight!

  48. Reading says:

Post-game potential brawl fizzles. Someone will get drilled on Saturday.

  49. Jim S. says:

So, 1) Peter Gammons now lies for the Bucs? Yeah, sounds reasonable. Fits the narrative. 2) Bucs players are going to quit because we don’t have Price/Lester? Sure, why not. 3) Cutch stinks? I honestly can’t take it, any more.

    1. cmat0829 says:

JimS, hang in there. Any bad stretch for this organization (deadline whiff and any loss) brings out all the “Nutting-ists” that lurk just beneath the surface. It was rampant in late April, dormant for a bit.
This team in playoff hunt and not legit WS contenders, like it or not.
