  1. Biz says:

Dejan, if the game is at Heinz, you are in trouble ;-)

  2. Radio wave says:

Is week 3 the most important for the starters?

    1. toochca says:

It is generally the only preseason game where they play a significant amount of time. Watch who plays special teams tonight as well.

  3. Wild Bill says:

Half the players are mad at the Doobie brothers for embarrassing the team and making life a lot tougher for everybody. The other half are mad because they weren’t invited to go “rollin” down McKnight Rd. with them.

    1. I love that name, whoever came up with it. Tremendous.

      1. Pitt Critic says:

Doobie Brothers was a Rock Band from 70-80′s era. Great music.

        1. I’m well aware of that PC. That’s why I like the name for these 2 clowns.

“Jesus is Just Alright With Me”

Da da da da dat da da

      2. Arriba Wilver says:

No way Cheech and Chong doesn’t stick.

Based on the description of the arrest.

(I Do know they are a comedy team from the 70′s whose humor was based around weed. ). :-D

        Sorry if this offends

  4. Milo Hamilton says:

Rosters must be cut down to 75 by 4:00 pm on Tuesday. 15 guys have to go.
    .
Inactive Tonight due to injury – Will Allen, Lance Moore, Tauren Poole, Eric Waters, Will Johnson, Shaq Richardson, Devin Smith, Cody Wallace, Greg Warren, Jordan Zumwalt.

    1. Wild Bill says:

How many of the listed names will be among the cuts, Milo?

      1. Milo Hamilton says:

Allen’s in trouble. He needs to get healthy. Moore, Johnson, Wallace & Warren have the team made. The others are iffy at best. Zumwalt needs to get out of the tub too.

  5. stuart66 says:

Hey Rev, isn’t it nice that the younger folk are so patient in explaining things to us? They’ve never heard the proverb bout sucking eggs!

    Just sayin…

    Suart

    1. :D

  6. Milo Hamilton says:

Mike Tomlin was just thanking Chip Kelly for Dennis Dixon & LeGarrette Blunt.

  7. Reading says:

Somewhat lame that the NFL Network announcers are actually in their Los Angeles studios and not at the game.

    1. Reading says:

Can’t even really hear the crowd. Kind of a sanitized broadcast in a sound booth.

    2. Oshie says:

It’s like how they sometimes do soccer. Very disconcerting, Reading.

    3. camchuck says:

      No…its really lame….

    4. AJS says:

But is that any worse than the kdka broadcast. The 4 times per year I have to listen to Bob Pompiani are 4 too many.

    5. Jasonfromshaler says:

Even they don’t go to the pre-season games now.

  8. Oshie says:

I just hope Bell doesn’t Bogart the ball.

  9. Oshie says:

    Predicting Bell averages 4.20 YPC.

  10. Milo Hamilton says:

In Bell’s current state, he didn’t feel a thing.

  11. Milo Hamilton says:

Heavy doses of the Doobie Brothers.

  12. Patrick Dickey says:

    Just got his Bell rung…

  13. Oshie says:

Pass to Bell on the left hand side.

(Could do this all night, but I’ll stop).

    1. BillyBaduka says:

      Good stuff Osh!

  14. Milo Hamilton says:

So, since all the early love, how’s this Justin Brown thing working out ?

  15. Newsboy says:

Timmons with that burst – beastly hitter once he is in full motion

  16. Oshie says:

Wonder if Ed Hochuli could pass a pee test ? Looks pretty ripped for a fortysomething.

    1. Milo Hamilton says:

      Try sixty something.

      1. Oshie says:

Really ? I didn’t Google him and after I typed that, I thought he certainly was in his fifties. He’s like an actor.

        1. Dodkong says:

Not quite, he can still move his facial muscles and show a range of emotions, unlike a lot of Hollywood actors. ;)

  17. Milo Hamilton says:

    This offense is really something.

  18. pattonbb says:

    Jarvis Jones = Huey Richardson.

    1. Milo Hamilton says:
      -1

You’re watching a different game than I am.

      1. muzzled_hockeymonster says:

JJ looked to get leverage and pressure.

      2. pattonbb says:

Let me know when he makes a play.

  19. Dejan Kovacevic says:

Shady, so smooth. The moment that ball makes contact with his fingertips on that play, it’s six. What a star he’s become.

  20. muzzled_hockeymonster says:

Ok so looks like we can’t contain the edge. Is that bad?

  21. Dejan Kovacevic says:

Wheaton’s effectiveness = Using more of Ravens playbook and designing plays purely to draw pass interference.

    1. muzzled_hockeymonster says:

      Bryant’s been good at that.

  22. Reading says:

    Outstanding series there.

  23. Macchamp74 says:

Can Steelers get off the field on 3rd downs?

  24. Milo Hamilton says:

Steelers playing lots of nickel, 2 d-linemen, & the Eagles are just running right at it.

  25. Oshie says:

It’s a tough call on whether to watch this game or the every Simpsons ever marathon on FXX. The early seasons were so good, but the marathon continues uninterrupted until 09/01.

    1. Barb says:
      -1

      Ugh!

      1. Oshie says:

Haha! I’ve got arrested adolescence issues, Barb.

  26. Milo Hamilton says:

Cubs beat the Giants in the completion of tarpgate 2-1.

    1. Barb says:

      Yeah Cubbies.

  27. Macchamp74 says:
    -1

If the constant penalty flags fly in regular season….TV networks won’t be happy.

  28. Dejan Kovacevic says:

Used to seeing a lot of penalties in Philly, but this is ridiculous.

    1. Dodkong says:

Have to agree. Hopefully the flags tone down just a little for the regular season

  29. Newsboy says:
    -1

Get the beard suited up – this time to allowing the QB TOdouble pump is ridiculous -and Will Allen will likely be visited by the Turk by Weds

    1. Milo Hamilton says:

Will Allen isn’t playing. He might eventually get cut, but he’s not playing.

      1. Newsboy says:

You are spot on as usually, Milo -I got Pompeani’d by a miscall on a Cortez Allen miscue

  30. muzzled_hockeymonster says:

I dunno if it’s the routes or the vanilla calls, but ben has no chemistry with his WR.

  31. Pitt Critic says:

I said last week, don’t get excited on the 1st team Defense. Buffalo got a lot of yards on 1st Team Defense.
Philly got 180 yds so far with 12:34 remaining in the half. OUCH.
    14-0

  32. Milo Hamilton says:

Ed sure loves his face time. :)

    1. Carlos Danger says:

Tough to watch. No actual plays involved, just watching the refs mark off yards.

      1. Oshie says:

It’s laughable. I guess NFL was jealous of MLB’s pace of play. Sheesh. Throw in the asinine call from the apparently vacuous NFLN studios and it’s close to an unwatchable telecast.

        1. Carlos Danger says:

The NFL should just simulate the season in the new Madden and accept those results and broadcast the simulations. Might be more exciting to watch the simulated games as there wouldn’t be as many flags.

  33. Dejan Kovacevic says:

Franchise QB not exactly sharp. One thing to be off-target. Quite another to misread routes, which has happened at least twice. Now a pick, too.

  34. Dodkong says:

One thing that I really wish would be addressed is the constant WR getting up and doing the “throw the flag” motion trying to get a call.
    *
It’s the NFL version of diving in soccer. Both need to go away, asap.

  35. Milo Hamilton says:

Another one of those nasty grass field injuries.

  36. Day Short, Dollar Late says:

So far this game looks like the 2013 Steelers to a T. Getting blown off the ball on D, poor coverage, and the base O looks boring/confused.

  37. Jim S. says:

Good thing this game doesn’t count in the standings.

    1. Dodkong says:
      -2

I’d say the Steelers are doing pretty good, all things considering.
      *
Ask the Eagles if they’d rather win or possibly have 2 important offensive players hurt for the first game of the season.

      1. Jim S. says:

So, our performance is measured by how many players get injured for the other team?

        1. Dodkong says:

Just saying, I don’t think being down on the performance isn’t a big deal. Stay healthy, get some reps for the guys to watch on video and move on.

        2. Milo Hamilton says:

No. Our performance is measured by how many of our players get hurt. ;)

  38. Dodkong says:

RT just got steamrolled. Who is that?

  39. Jason Lyskava says:

My son is 10… he just asked if Joey Porter is still in good enough shape to play. Hmmm …

  40. Milo Hamilton says:

This nickel scheme is simply not working.

    1. muzzled_hockeymonster says:

I hope this isn’t our plan against dink and dunk/west coast offense teams.

      1. AJS says:

You mean the kind of offenses that Dick Lebeau defenses have been able to stop for the last 15 years? Remember the year they opened with Pats and Raiders both in prime time. Destroyed!

        1. muzzled_hockeymonster says:

Yup. Also remember as HC for bungles and his team doing same exact thing to us. Seems like what we do is pseudo prevent defense which as we know…

Think i’d want pass rush as much as possible. Overload a side or up the middle and force extra quick throws.

  41. Ragpicker says:

Halftime snack? Vanilla ice cream…like our defense.

    1. Carlos Danger says:

Bell and Blount asked for potato chips. And Funyuns. And some Slim Jim’s. And some Fritos. And some ice cream.

  42. Milo Hamilton says:

I can’t remember seeing John Norwig. So we’re winning.

  43. muzzled_hockeymonster says:

Sooo….looking for silver linings…..and…nice that Heath looked sharp. Sooooo, there’s that.

    1. Day Short, Dollar Late says:

Man, I love 83 but he looks slow.

  44. Day Short, Dollar Late says:

Two mental mistakes to end the half. Gay faking the blitz with no help on two wr way out left. And Blount coming out of the endzone 8 yards deep. They don’t have to win but look like you’ve played before. This was all 4 preseason games last year.

  45. Milo Hamilton says:

They ran the ball very effectively. Their problems on offense were Ben/communication with his receivers related.

  46. muzzled_hockeymonster says:

Beachum getting bull rushed back into ben right off the snap. They got ball back last time but 55 is making it look too easy against beachum.

  47. Milo Hamilton says:

Have I mentioned that Brad Wing stinks ?

  48. Milo Hamilton says:

Now time for the Eagles 2nd team offense to embarrass the 1st team defense.

  49. DormontyDawson says:

Will Ike have more penalties or tackles this year?

  50. Milo Hamilton says:

Sean Spence – right knee – won’t return.

    1. muzzled_hockeymonster says:

      Same knee?

      1. Milo Hamilton says:

        No.

  51. Ragpicker says:

    Embarrassing

  52. Ryan18 says:

I rushed home to watch my first football of the year just in time to see the beginning of the 2nd half. Should have stayed out.

  53. Milo Hamilton says:

Jason Worilds – right knee – won’t return.

    1. Carlos Danger says:

I missed that – did it look bad?

      1. Milo Hamilton says:

It was on the sack. He walked off slowly. It’s so hard to tell.

        1. Carlos Danger says:

I know what you mean. In my opinion worilds is essential to the stillers running this defense successfully. Hope it is minor.

  54. Kevin Quartz says:

Embarrassing 24 hours for the entire organization. Poor judgment, poor effort and poor coaching. This teams lacks leadership right now.

  55. Carlos Danger says:

Dude I hope Spence’s injury isn’t bad. That guy deserves a better fate. So much talent.

  56. Carlos Danger says:

    HEATH!

  57. Milo Hamilton says:

He’s punishing the starters by leaving them in. Or he’s punishing us by leaving them in.

  58. muzzled_hockeymonster says:

If this is how this team deals with adversity than it may be a looong season.

  59. Reading says:

Yeah, I know it’s pre-season, but pretty pathetic effort. When do the Pirates play again?

  60. Milo Hamilton says:

Think I’m going to make popcorn for Tomlin’s post game.

  61. Milo Hamilton says:

The league is considering a pitch count for the officials. There’s concern for their arms.

  62. stuart66 says:

Chip Kelley seems to have. An offensive clue.

I think the Emperor could really teach the basics like blocking and tackling.

Steelers need a Seal-team experience for “team building”.

    Stuart

  63. Milo Hamilton says:

Darrius Heyward-Bey is moving up the depth chart.

  64. theplanisworking says:

    1. stuart66 says:

Nice, did you do the art?

      Stuart

    2. DJ says:

      Three hempercycloids. Nice.

  65. muzzled_hockeymonster says:

Get em DK! We want answers! :)

  66. Florida Steeler says:

So, everyone wanted to put Shazier in the Hall ofFame last week–he got manhandled all night. Every tackle was 10-12 yards downfield.
Ike Taylor looked really bad and Cam Thomas is not the answer–bring on the Beard!!!!

    1. Jason says:

Wait Taylor looked bad and that is news? That guy was done two seasons ago, hasn’t been the same since Tebow roasted him in the playiff game.

  67. BillyBaduka says:

    That was ugly.

  68. mike says:

wow. To ugly to watch too much of that one. wow, our feature back a stoner. wow, a little discretion would have went a long way. I agree with Coach Tomlin; to take his time and deal with this appropriately.

  69. mattfro says:

Man, this is going to be a long ass season if the O can’t score 31+ points per game. No ball control or TOP barrles are going to prevent them from giving up scores and points at an alarming rate.

The only blessing would be that they would HOPEFULLY & FINALLY get rid of DLB!
