On location: Blackhawks 3, Penguins 2, SO

I'm sure you're not the only one but I'm certainly not one of them. He may be a rambling buffoon at times but outside of maybe DK he knows more about the game than any other reporter/broadcaster in the area and it's not even close.

I agree. His hockey knowledge is second to none. He also thinks he is a pro wrestler playing the part of a bad guy so he says some really stupid things to get people riled up. If you can overlook that act, he is pretty knowledgeable about hockey especially.

I think his hockey knowledge is second to none. He also fancies himself a pro wrestler playing the part of the bad guy, so he says some really crazy things to get people riled up. If you can overlook that foolishness, he does know an awful lot about hockey and his opinions are usually right on.

He knows a lot about hockey but I don't get the feeling he closely follows the league as a whole or other teams beyond the Pens as much.
Also, if he'd stop RTing porn he would be far more tolerable ...all the young kids looking at his Twitter feed, it's just irresponsible as a member of the media IMO. Use your megaphone for something better than a stripper's butt.

No yinzer you're not. His shtick is tired and unfunny. I don't believe there are many that take that buffoon seriously.

Madden is a shock jock wanna be. I tried watching the podcasts with DK but I can't get past Maddens loud mouth.

Safe travels, Sir Jay.

Letang a game time decision.
For a possible concussion?
Why do I have no faith in the Pens' medical staff?
Despres out. Let them both get a rest with the All Star break coming up.

Safe flight, JB!

Safe travels!

Being down to three defensemen at one point in the game is pretty potent as an excuse, right?

Yes it is DK - for a game or two. But is that the reason for the play of the Pens over the past 12 game (or so)?

If the standings are any indication of what a team is like, why do the Kings consistently get deep into the playoffs while not really even being close to the 1 - 3 spots in the conference? I, for one, don't care about the standings. I care about how we're playing. And for the end of the first half of the season with a ton of injuries and a rookie head coach, I am VERY happy with where we stand. Do some things still need to be adjusted? Absolutely. And that's why there's a regular season before the playoffs. And that's where the next 3 months come into play.

Working on the timestamp thing, I swear! And blame me for the Philly fans. When there's a very, very strong opposing viewpoint, I'll clear the comments to appear even if they aren't subscribers. Always looking for the fairest representation.

Hey DK...
Not complaining about the Philly trolls at all, found them entertaining at first but then got tiresome.as more and more of them made absolutely no sense.
Please, please do not change your policy of letting the comments appear. Free speech and all that stuff.
Of course extremely vulgar, racist, and vile personal attacks should be deleted. Common sense will apply I am sure. Us Yinzers are at least smart enough to recognize a turd and say get that crap outa here. :)

I wonder if he means to skip the All Star game and just rest.
I think there's some rule where if you beg off due to injury you have to miss at least a game before or after....?

Anybody see BB trolling Pierre in the background on an in-game interview? I LOLd.

I hope this animated gif works!

Good call. That might be right.

Indeed it is true. Even though they won the Cup on the road, the away jerseys were the dark jerseys.

Following their Cup win, the Penguins modernized their logo and uniforms. However, the 'Robo-Penguin' logo wasn't as universally received as the 'Skating Penguin' and was gradually phased out between 2001 and 2007, being replaced by the updated 'Skating Penguin' logo featuring a Vegas gold triangle.

I should cite Wiki for the 2nd paragraph haha

If they get one.

Yeah, hard to get PPs hemmed in your own zone.

And without Letang on the point. I like Martin in that role but boy does Ehrhoff have a great shot.

Well at least SId and GEno won't be standing next to each other.

Never mind.

Put Poo on the point I say! Why the heck not?

I've been wanting to see Malkin on the 2nd PP for a while. Let's assume Hornqvist & Comeau can get healthy without losing 3 other forwards. I like Sid, Perron, Hornqvist, Letang, & Erhoff as PP1 and Malkin, Kunitz, Bennett/Sutter, Martin & Despres/Puliot as PP2.

Bylsma coached them to stand in front of the net guy.
He also coached them to take the puck on rebounds, while MJ has them taking the man. They still do not box guys out IMO and the only guy with obvious nastiness is Despres, and occasionally Tanger.

Numerous teams are playing that way - letting a guy stand at the top of the crease behind the defense. Not sure if it's because of the crackdown on letting the D crosscheck those players to clear them out or what. But it's not just the Penguins.

You're right, and I agree it seemed to begin after the new obstruction rules. Quite useless IMO, esp for goalies like me.
Though I do prefer MJs plan of tying up the man on rebounds. let the G get the puck.

Craig Adams. He's going to board his teammates during the fastest skater competition.

Milo is on a roll....

Now that's funny, I don't care who you are.

He could use the All-Star break, no question.

Did he earn that by missing the open net last night or the failed breakaway?

Seriously, that's just moronic.
Here I was hoping for DP.
Stupid me.

Kunitz is looking like a statue on left wing

MJ has implied he won't do that.
Kunitz Crosby Perron
Comeau Malkin Horny
Bennett w Sutter.

Really not liking that, if indeed it plays out that way.

Agreed, what's up with that? Is it REALLY that hard to change lines? It seems to be a nightly occurrence now.

Poor bench communicatin, not sure who's job that is, Tocchet? Dunno.

Head coach for forwards, Agnew for defensemen.

I smell a shutout.

Glad to be proven wrong ... as usual.

Shame he did not stay w/Pens... but then we are into a lot of what if's
Nice what if's but just the same...

Ok aborts was BORTS. OY.

I'd look elsewhere for GM advice.

LOL Sorry Stephen agreeing w/Milbury might indicate you need professional help. Just jaggin ya!
I do agree Rutherford may make a trade. Just to shake up.. not so much.

I think Pierre called him Travis.

Crash the net good things happen....

Have to disagree a bit Sarah. Barely happy with Goc as #4 C and think Sutter will be fine at #3 with steady wingers like Kunitz and Bennett maybe.

Let's give Goc a chance with NHLers on his Ws eh?
I'm fine with him at 3 esp if that makes moving Sutter a possibility. He's going to ask for more than he's worth or that we can pay as a FA so let's get something for him.

You have a point Sarah

Pens are in for a challenge in this division for the first time in quite awhile. The Scuderi's and martins and the Kunitz types are just not good enough now. Bylsma is a cement head but really who could win this division the last couple of years. Now the Pens have some real teams and the warts are there. When healthy with all hands on deck, the Pens face tough sledding this year.

Really? Who said that?
I think he's going to be great at both ends of the ice.
Like Letang, except with a brain.

I agree 100% and would argue that Pouliot allows us to trade Letang this year for a winger and big Dman. I have seen some posters in the papers comment that he is slow and bad on D but I guess I should consider the sources

I thought the same thing DK! I was wondering why the Blackhawk (forget who it was) didn't go ballistic on him like Voracek did on Scuds. Oh yeah, Chicago's games still mean something. ;-)

I chatted w Doc in an airport whilst waiting on a delayed flight.
A true gentleman, very knowledgable, and loves the game.

Rhetorical question or what! :)

I don't know, both nights were difficult to watch.

Penguins depth issues start with Sutter.

sounds like a good morning java to me like the philly one.
Just a thought DK

Have you seen these past two games? The fourth line has been the Penguins' best. Not sure what else can kill this meme.

Unfortunately, that's the truth. That's why we are so critical of them. All of a sudden success is dependent on the guys who play 6-8 minutes a game. Whether that's a testament to the league-wide ascendence of skilled players or a plateau in 87 and 71's game (and injuries and 'maturation' of wingers) is yet to be seen. Bottom line, the two or three once-in-a-generation players aren't winning games for the Pens. I think we agree on that.

To be fair, he has an anchor named Kunitz stapled to his hip.

If they don't start winning once in a while, It'll be an earlier summer then you think.

The player pacing the NHL in points/game needs to do more?

Sarah, I seldom agree w/Milo (lol) but...
You gotta get off this Kunitz sucks thing (ya he aint be the same since Sohci)
And I know it is almost a criminal offence in the Burgh to be critical of Sid . He needs to pick his game up like Geno has lately. He has not done that.
He has been way to tentative about going to the net , he like is automatically pulling up and passing. And Shoot Sid Shoot!!!
"Wing for Sid"--getting old. Sid has the skills to make any wing look good.

Puck, disagree a bit, coming into tonight over the last 10 games, Crosby has 5 goals and 14 points, Malkin 3 and 10. I think even strength, the top two lines have been fine, PP not so much. Need more out of the bottom six, go it tonight, health will help but better deployment could also. Agree on your last point.

Three things. Nice effort, get healthy and don't let Martin leave for nothing.

Adams has to be the most consistently maligned Pen on these message boards.

I failed.

No little, it just takes a little while to begin working.
