Avalanche 3, Penguins 1

Unfortunately for me the next 4 games start just about my bedtime. So for me I will not see much live action.
But for the Pens, the West "bonding team building" swing has come at a fortuitous time. Trades and all ya know.
Cautiously optimistic at this point. Game on.

If you are not a member of the Penguins Night Owl Club, you have four chances over the next six nights to become one. Turn your transistor radio on with the volume down low, and listen to the Pens under the covers so your parents can't hear you. If you are still awake past midnight, Mike Lange will send you your membership card in the mail, no application required. He just knows, kind of like Santa.

Fleury is without a doubt the best goalie in the metro.

Go Pens, C. Adams watching from the press box again

Staying up the whole road trip! :) anxious for the new guys. Was gonna wear my Talbot shirt but then the Avs traded him. Oy vey haha

I have a get off my lawn complaint, American sports should adopt the practice of European football, the listed game time should be when the game starts.

Something rarely said by a Penguin announcer.... A hit by B. Bennett.

So Kunitz and Malkin kill penalties now?

17 is having a great game.

Come on 17 really?

Never liked Iggy.

Yeah, five guys in a straight line isn't a good way to try and enter the zone.

The Penguins look bad. Like real bad.

Also Crosby looks disinterested in doing anything that has to do with playing hockey tonight

"Nathan McKinnon wants to do well tonight since Sidney Crosby's in the house."

I usually defend Steigy against homerism accusations, but sometimes it's just too much.

I have an novel idea ... how about our $8.7 million captain take a few shots already? I hope I'm not being too subtle .. at least appear to be a threat to take the heat off other top liners who will shoot.

Charming exchange on Comedy Central between Jon Strwart, the ex soccer player, and some Russian Hockey player.

Uggghhhh, where's my whiskey?

After winning 4 games in a row and looking good, the Penguins were do to have one of their normal "we don't care about hockey tonight" games.

2forgettable periods right there!

Pat Roy looks pretty confident.

This team is soft, soft, soft. Whoever thought that speed and skill are what wins in the playoffs was badly mistaken. The Avs aren't even a playoff team and they are making the Pens look silly.

The ice must suck there a ton of guys falling all over the ice

The Islanders are watching the Avalanche skate circles around the Pens and licking their chops.

It is so easy to get into the Penguins zone on the PK

@JoshYohe_Trib: Through two periods, Crosby doesn't have a shot and has lost 10 of 14 faceoffs.

We have Pens coaches talking into their sleeves, like G-men? Skip the secret agent stuff, we need coaches that can motivate multi-millionaire. Soft spoken nice guys aren't it, I'm afraid.

A poor game against a poor opponent, Pens didn't even try and fore-check until the 3rd period. You cannot perform that feebly and expect to win, need to play better, but I'm sure there are some larger lessons to be drawn and think pieces to be written about this game.

Sid is just horrible this year. The not scoring is one thing, but the not trying is something I thought I would never see out of him. These clunker games happen too frequently. Really hard to watch these guys fiddle fuddle around for extended periods of play. I can't believe B. Bennett is still on this team after the trade deadline, much less continuing to dress!
I hope they are just conserving energy for the playoffs, but they have to make the playoffs.

Love joy played over 19 min and Cole played over 12. Perron looked like the only flash of light on the Night-and-Day line. The TOI looked more evenly spread throughout the lineup rather than 3-4 guys getting 6-8 min. Sure it's a get-your-feet-wet game for the new guys and I thought they looked solid though. Go Pens

Did Sidney Crosby play last night? Was it that time of the month for him? His disappearing act is getting tiresome and it is why I unfortunately do not have the confidence this team will do anything in the playoffs.

GM threatens team with major shake-up and they play great for 4 games.
Trade deadline passes and they suck again.
Coincidence?

Going to be a tough stretch
