Penguins 3, Coyotes 1

heading to the game. can't wait to get there. it should be like when I used to watch the pens in ft. lauderdale; 75% ex-pittsburghers.

oh, and I do plan on shouting shoot the puck when they are on the power play. I want to make them feel at home.

I see this being the game the Penguins find their goal scoring touch again, at least I hope it is.

Please tell me we score more than a goal tonight

Keys, will Arizona target Letang? Is so how will he and the team respond?

Will Joey V, come back like other ex-Pens and score on us?

Downie on line two, I like it. Yes he takes bad penalties, but for those that want him to sit, who then is their to stick up for our stars? Answer 41 and 47 and both were traded. No one else.

Is Scuderi's bad play the result of 47 trade? I think so. Also who pairs with Erhofff on D in playoffs? Not many games for HCMJ to figure it out.

Finally 56 games for Letang for a powerplay goal. Anyone else see the issue here?

Just curious,
AZ being even worse than ED, IF the Pens would happen to score, is it cool to raise the sticks?

Letang was out there way too long

Sens up 4-3 vs Leafs. A win gives them 83 points in 71 games. Bruins have 83 points in 71 GP and are tied 1-1 in third in Florida. Pens go into this game with 88 points in 71 games.

Nice to see Pens PP pay off there.

Brutal. 1-0 PHX.

Way to go Beau. Waiting to bring up the youth for the playoffs might be moot.

Crosby looks pretty good so far

Sens 35 goals this month compared to Pens 21. Somehow the conspiracy to reduce goals hasn't spread to Ottawa.

Where are the avatars around here?

Isles win to go to 92 points. Caps losing and would stay at 88 through 73 games.

Nice start ... 0 shots in the first 10 minutes.

Can't complain about the refs tonight. 3rd pp already

This is horrendous.

This is just brutal to watch
Are they trying to be this bad or does it just come naturally?

Have discovered the secret to the Coyote's jump .... Papa John's gives 50% off all pizzas when the Yotes win. Maybe Susan Baierl can offer 50% off a new car on the rare chance the Pens win? 3 shots on goal in the first ... thats livin'

28th D in league.

Was pegging Hornie as 4th most valuable. Too light. Probably No. 2 right now.

Pens are playing like they have a better chance for Connor McDavid than the Stanley Cup...

Amazing
3 shots for the period
Including the PPs
This team looks lost

Wow. That was a completely uninspired first period.

Come on guys, HCMJ discontinued practicing powerplay due to lack of calls all season, so tonight they were not prepared for 3 in one period. I don't think it would be an understatement to say if they continue like this tonight, Rick Tocchett could be named coach for rest of year, this team has tuned HCMJ out ZERO effort.

To soon to start wondering if this team has quit on yet another coach?

Again...?

Sens win and are on a 14-1-1 tear. They are making the playoffs. Caps lost and stay at 88. Florida beats Bruins in SO and have 84.

Looks like drop pass through neutral zone is our ONLY method for O-zone entry on PP.

A simpler answer would be Pouliot and get the hell out of the way.

Want to know why the Pens have no shot in the playoffs? At 2:56 left in the 1st, Doan floats into the zone against 3 Pens and not one of them pressures him. They collapse. He drops it to his left for a shot on Fleury. 10-15 seconds later. Perron has the puck at center and floats toward the offensive zone against 3 Coyotes. Immediately, 2 Coyotes step up to pressure Perron and he casually dumps it into the zone. Say what you want, but I've never seen a team so willing to stand around, waive their sticks, and let the opponent come to them on a regular basis. At some point, maybe a Penguin should try pushing the other team's buttons. Maybe, just maybe, they should try to force a little tempo. And don't give the effort nonsense. Applying pressure on a puck carrier is a coach's directive, not a player's prerogative.

How in the world do the Pens not bring 7 D on this trip?? They just play with 5 Dmen because it's not like this game is important or anything. What a clown show this organization has become.

Need Tiny Arcabello to score tonight to make this even better.

Ref had his hand raised for awhile, but the teacher wouldn't call on him

Wow, the Yotes scored one for us! Thanks dudes. :)

Well, if you banking pucks off Brandon Sutter's hind quarters in the how-to-fix-the-Penguins-power-play office pool, you win.

Brendan Sutter's backside is now the Pens number one star...

Sutter gives new meaning to CYA! Scores goal with his A$$!

BYW I'm starting to believe the Pens really ate trying to get Johnson fired.

Need Therrien to call a spade...
Stuart

The Coyote's broadcast team are making the Penguins, especially Letang, look really good.

Winnik deflects a Letang shot for a goal.

Sticks raised.

Very refreshing period. Winnik shaved and then scored!

Let's don't get too confident. It was a out of control head over heels shot that Smith lost when it arced over the white boards line and with the crowd in the background, it was very difficult for him to see. Effort level is higher than zero, so can give credit there.

Much better second period, thankfully.

Beating the other team to the puck is a good idea. They should continue to try this strategy for a change.

3 drawn penalties for Sid

There is no pp. It's all PK

Not really hockey related, but is anyone else think those twin lawyers that advertise during games are seriously creepy? Its like the twins from The Shining grew up and chase ambulances.

For goodness sake, 4 minutes left. Not a time to withdraw and defend a shaky 1 goal lead.

It's sad that this team's phenomenal pk lives in the shadow of its treacherous power play.

Fleury ... number one star.

We should see 26/87 on the ice together a little more, no?

2 free points ... lucky to have them. Now the HARD games come.

Cole is such a strong player. I'm not just talking about physicality, either. Nice game for him tonight.

Glad for the win. D-zone exits and getting up ice looked purposeful at times. D getting really involved. I wish they looked more orchestrated and not so haphazard. Oh well.

I wonder why I wake not particularly satisfied? A rampaging playoff-minded team would have put up 5 healthy goals against Arizona without much effort. If it weren't for an empty-netter, a rare gift from Mike Smith, and a tumbling weak shot that might have landed softly next to Smith's water bottle but instead fell below the crossbar by a millimeter, we'd have lost this game too. We showed more energy in the latter two frames, but still discombobulated as a whole.

Last few years looked strong in reg season and then flamed. Get healthy. Get MAF ready. Come on guys.
