Covering: Rangers 2, Penguins 1, OT

Can't wait to watch all the interference.

DK said earlier that both GMJR and HCMJ will be back next year regardless of the outcome.

It would be nice to see Poulliot score from the point on his first shot, if he plays.

Stuart

@EliasSports: Crosby+Malkin=10 shots on goal, their lowest combined SOG total in 1st 3 games of a playoff series

Ok DK...let's hope the refs realize that there are two teams on the ice this evening and that the Pens realize that this is an April playoff game not a November regular season game! Need to sustain Pens play from Game 3's 3rd period for an entire game! Let's Go Pens!

Hey DK - stop down during the second intermission and a couple lunatics will share a few nachos with you! Hoping to go home with an even series tonight.

Savren and Bettman on the pre-game.
Commish thinks all things are peachy-keen.

Going by the defintion of insanity i am going with 2-1 final for the Rangers.

seems like a great atmosphere

This is it. Win or it's over. No way they take 3 in a row from NYR with 2 in NY.

Pens 10-13 in playoffs at CEC

Hard to fathom

I'll be only here in comments all night. No social media. Taking a break. Looking forward to it, actually.

Waiting for the first bad call so I can fume and say, "Best sport, worst league."

Faceoff: Penguins-Rangers, Game 4, Sidney Crosby vs. Derick Brassard, 7:11 p.m.

I kind of like this format better, Dejan. and as I typed, here's a goal lol

GOAL: Lovejoy through HEAVY traffic at 2:22, and the place absolutely ERUPTS. It's 1-0.

Finally the first goal!

EXACTLY what we needed. Who else? Hornqvist.

We scored first! What's up DK. I just subscribed yesterday.

Oh no.... Can we please have discipline AND goals? Is that too much?

Whoa! Check that: It's Hornqvist's goal. He was -- where else? -- right in front.

It is loud at CEC. I love it. And there is a penalty...

Downie just got two minutes for being hit in the face by Ryan McDonagh. Power plays are now 15-7 for New York in the series.

So apparently interference is still an infraction...

Phantom call on Downie unless cameras didn't catch the offense.

Send Harrington back to us in W-B..Baby Pens playoff run starts Friday..just sitting out there..

Gosh Doc Emerick is just so good. I thought it appropriate to comment on that. Great great broadcaster.

Shocked Downie didn't get penalized for Rangers interfering just then

The Pens are just never going to get the benefit of the doubt with the officials this season. Johnston doesn't have any pull and the players have a reputation. Luckily the PK is pretty good.

So Dejan, I understand I should listen to your appearance with Mark Madden.

breaking news. Pens power play

Scuderi can't pass.

He didn't want to call it, jeez thank you!

Why is scuderi throwing cross ice passes to no one!?

Where's Sarah?

Role reversal...no shots on goal for the Rangers

A penalty on the Rangers. Hell might have just frozen over.

Finishing every check it appears to me. Keep it up.

Anywhere I can stream this?

What a reversal so far: Penguins have game's first five shots, completely controlling play.

Just showed Geno's mother. Her recipe for borscht is the best.

Perron looks ready to fire away tonight. I hope he gets one.

Finally another missed dirty hit from behind on Hagelin - back to the norm

Funny what the first goal can do for a team's confidence.

Nyr radio praising pens play so far.

DK, think it's a coincidence the best crowd is showing up when tickets are cheapest? The young and poor are always the best crowds.

DK, nice to see ya here, brung all the tweeters with ya. Cool!

DK,
I heard your replay of Madden show. Recognizing this year's team had over 300+ man games lost, they barely made the playoffs by the skin of their teeth. I believe last year's team, which took first in the division if my memory is accurate (it may not be), was over 500+ man games lost to injury.

By the way, 39 is absolutely no where in this game, or even in the past month, or more. What a disappointment. And, i can't figure out why, other than 72, the Pens put no one in front of the net and they prefer to play from the perimeter.

You have got to be kidding me

Seems like they have adjusted their PK to be way more aggressive and really coming after us. They know we're passive.

That's a hilarious call against Comeau. Especially in the Game 2 context.

That was an awful call and not an automatic one when on Lapierre

another stupid stick penalty

DK, think it's a coincidence the best crowd is showing up when tickets are cheapest? The young and poor are always the best crowds.

While Doc is on the top of his game, Pierre is just awful. Not sure if it is just me or does he really hate us.

Another PP....shocking

What a joke. After all that they've ignored this series.

That's a hook? Lapierre got hooked way worse than that on open ice last game.

Ian Cole was a find.

The officials are doing their part 3-1.

Last night during the Caps /Isles game Pierre was applauding the toughness of the Caps for battling through multiple short handed situations. Tonight the Pens are undisciplined animals that deserve to be caged. What a homer. Hahaha

Max Lapierre has been tremendous. There's a good Rutherford trade.

Anyway to auto refresh the comments?

Pens PK is so tough--that squad gets the most practice

I was thinking the same thing-how do you auto refresh comments?

crowd cheering geno was heard on tv

For as much as Kunitz deserves scorn, he is really throwing his body into checks tonight.

UN FREAKIN REAL

If anybody sees Rossi tell him I could use a double scoop of mint chip. Thanks.

Can I join the fun?

Love the dump and forechecking.

I wish the Pens had been rewarded more for this than just one goal... It's certain the momentum is going to swing back eventually.

I found Mr. Starkey's ice cream column today just as distasteful as Rossi's.

Shots are 7-2 for Penguins with 2:02 left in first, and a power play coming up. Verily this art madness. (Or some other Thor-style dialogue.)

Yay! Bad call on the Rangers!

We need a PP score, like now. :D

This PP could be huge.

Lundqvist has been leaning the wrong way awkwardly a ton, even on missed shots. He can be had tonight.

Man so many blocked shots!

I would have liked one more that period

Note to HCMJ, more shoot on power play.

Rangers are a bunch of whiners

Solid 1st. Needed to cash in on one of those PP chances though.

can the pens file a grievance or just flat out sue the NHL for all this referee trash theyve endured all year?

Great first period from the Penguins.

Maybe not the best idea to have Martin as the trigger man on the PP?

MSG announcers talking about Lapierre fake being terrible for game - no mention of Lundqvist acting

Impressive period by Pens.

Watching the game here in England! Malkin. Is. Flying. Coincidence that his mom and dad are at Consol?

Crosby needs to take the shot when he has one. He keeps trying to make the perfect pass. SHOOT THE PUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great start... We need 40 more mins of this please.

while we have a break, how's the progress on #stealyohe front?

How many shots on the two Pens PPs? 1 total? Cmon boys. Btw how great is Hornquist playing? James who?

I like the intensity!! Keep it up!

from 107...once again the refs suck

Seriously, soft chip, bash D, pass to the point, lineup 3 forwards across Lundqvist's face, and fire away. He's still making saves, awkward or not, but he isn't seeing through traffic all that well right now. The blind luck saves, and he's had at least 2 by my count, won't last forever.

Buried in an otherwise wonderful first period: Penguins were 4-12 on faceoffs. Crosby and Lapierre each 1-4.

Holy crap, Bettman in the house. Go tell him we'd like to see some more obstruction called again!

Showing Bettman on Root. Texting and smiling think Chesire Cat

Bobby... "escape-ability of Doumilin"...I like that.

ha, what would you do if you had the seat behind Bettman tonight?

Cole off for boarding Marty St. Louis. Did it with free hand. Absolutely the right call.

That was a stupid penalty!!

Lapierre hobbled by that blocked shot, very slow back to bench.

New drinking game: Count the number of times Mr. November is the first guy on his line to return to the bench during a given shift.

Warning: Hand your keys to a friend.

Great defense by the Pens - But quit taking stupid penalties!!!!!!

Elusive second goal is beckoning

Finally streaming! I don't think it's necessarily legal, but who cares? lol

Too much perimeter passing on these PPs. Try something different guys!

I gotta give some props to Chorney and Dumoulin. I slammed them pretty good earlier in the series but Chorney has been solid from day 1 and Dumoulin has gotten better and better with each shift. The crow tastes good.

Pens should commit more penalties - they look better on the PK

Winnick having a good game

That clanking sound was the puck bouncing off Kunitz's stick to a Ranger on the PP....

Very solid effort by the pens so far.....lets keep this up!

DK - Is the crowd noise still at a fever pitch ??????

Looks like MAF may need a shutout to get the win here.

Pens are becoming sloppy in their own end

Fleurry looks AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rangers need to fear our PP at least a little, otherwise they interfere us to death.

A half-decent PP is must for us to have a chance in this game / series.

Pensblog just posted on Facebook that "reports are saying" that Rutherford is out after this season? DK, you hear anything about this?(I trust you more than "reports.")

New subscriber, DK! Lovin it!
Hate to say it but that Malkin line is really worrying me tonight...hope they prove me wrong.

Doc mentions Pirates. Check

I love how the top line wins puck battles.

Doc mentions Pirates. Check

Can Dali instruct me how to mute Pierre?

Downie is a penalty waiting to happen

Penguins seem to have eased off taking the body. Need to hit those defensemen.

It's destiny that this game goes to OT just so I can't watch The Americans at 10:00.

Team scoring the Second goal wins every game - looking like another 2-1 loss - Rangers showing they want it more and pens look listless

Is the game plan to start strong *or* finish strong, one or the other?

Fleurry has kept us in the game - now we need to reward him with some goals in the 3rd period !!!!!!

Well I guess our plan to play 40 mins of Prevent D has gone awry.

How's our record when we're tied at the end of the second period?

Kunitz standing there on Rangers goal

Malkin zero shots tonight. Zero. If that doesn't change ...

At the game. Apparently there is no truth to the rumor that Rossi is selling ice cream here.

Team looked very tired at halfway point of 2nd.

More coffee in locker room . . . and donuts.

This could determine the series. Could not build on lead, too many OD man breaks. Here we go

I'm thinking Rossi and Koharski could start an ice cream & donuts food truck

Rangers have such unbelievable stick work - makes it hard to shoot on net

We've reached that point in the proceedings where your best players have to be your best players.

Oh. My. Goodness. A 1-2-2 trap in a tie game. I want to gauge my eyes out. It should be illegal.

Rangers relentless and wearing pens down

first post, next goal wins...genius insight...

Man, this has the feel of an L waiting to happen. Crowd still into it, but you can just sense the apprehension.

not liking how this is shaping up

Does anyone remember when playoff hockey was exciting? This is excruciating.

seems defense is less aggressive with pinching since the 1st

Ugh, painful to watch. More fun seeing DK's Legion, 10,000+ strong, bring newspaper sports department down to level of junior high "journalists." Ice cream all around!!

Rangers are as good at Detroit at that innocent interference.

Crowd actually trying to turn this around. I don't recall that happening here since ... I just don't recall.

Skill players like Malkin and Perron have more success carrying the puck into the zone than one would think

Lunquist erases another Ranger mistake as Sutter robbed

Errey: "You prey on the injury of another player." And that's just a hockey game. No wonder we human beings are as awesome as we are...

G E N O ..... shoot man, jeez

The no officiating portion of the game has commenced.

A healthy Geno takes that rush to the net

we need a goal come on Pens get to the net!

I'm watching the game alone in Capitals country. And I've learned a few things. 1. In general, I seem to agree with myself about hockey. 2. I can hold my breath for a very long time. 3. Watching playoff hockey alone is completely depressing. This news feed has been a huge help to making me feel less alone, thanks guys!

This is where you really miss a streaking Letang gaining momentum into the zone

This would all be fine if they had dressed Adams...

every time Mash brings the puck down that left side I cringe a little

I can't take this - The old ticker ain't what it used to be - SCORE A GOAL !!!!!!!!!!!!

Geno these playoffs = Sid 2014 playoffs. Clearly hurt.

This feels like it will end in an ugly goal. The Pens need to start looking like they could create one of those. The Rangers sure do.

Zuccarello is from this point forward forever my favorite Ranger. Swing and a miss...

Fleury might have saved the season, again.

C'mon, put this game away guys.

Can we clone hornqvist?

Scott Stevens approves this 3rd period.

Everyone remember the breathe the last few minutes?

The outcome of this game determines my mood in the AM

This is how every game in the series should have gone. It's been a great game. Only problem is that there's 1 team playing with house money here.

Echoing Big Daddy above/below as the case may be..
I HATE, HATE OT in the playoffs,
Real happy, real sad, real fast!
BP and heart rate not good.

Man if Kunitz dives there maybe the puck hits him and goes in

So the 4th 2-1 game in last 5 Pens/Rangers playoffs games & Rangers have won previous 3

Pens owed some good fortune here

When's the last time Pens won an OT playoff game at home?

I think the postseason badmouthing of Fleury is history now.

I have to mute the NBCSN broadcast ,especially during this series, since Doc's play by play makes me crazy-- every time anyone crosses the blue line with any kind of speed or intent, it sounds as if a goal is imminent and I can't deal. Pul-leeze. (Thankfully I can listen to the best announcers on the Pens' radio app even here in Godforsaken Maryland.)

Will the refs forget their whistles in the locker room? #bestsportworstleague

Hope you arm is warmed up Milo.

Captain Obvious checking in here but the Pens surely need to win here to have any chance. Obviously.

Score in the first two minutes Pens, give the rangers something to think about on their flight home.

I feel like our power plays killed our momentum

It's over. Such a shame. Pens definitely played well enough to win.

That's the season, kids!

3 losses by 2-1 scores. anyone guess what the problem is?

Well, that pretty much ends the season. It's a shame, they could have won this game.
