Podcast: Shero, IIHF on Penguins 24/7 w/ Metzer

I became a season ticket holder with the Pens after the 05' lockout for two reasons. One, winning the Crosby lottery; I never would've forgiven myself for willfully missing out on the chance to watch his career. Two, the NHL finally did what they'd promised to do multiple times before, have refs who called the game according to the rule book.

Here we are in 2015 and the game, as long as I've been watching it anyway, has never been worse. An Art Ross winner with 87 points, in a full season, is a disgrace. Nearly everything they got right in 05' has been undone. If the NHL shows no signs of seriously addressing its problems my money can be better spent elsewhere.

DK, going on the record to disagree with you on the World Championships. The games between the top clubs are quality hockey. Yes, those games are few and far between, but let's not forget this is a TOURNAMENT, so it should be more compared to March Madness than NHL playoffs.

Quality players playing with speed and skill AND referees actually calling penalties from the book (okay there are mistakes, but better than the NHL playoff penalty calls fiasco).
