Pirates 7, Cardinals 5

Pirates Lineup:
1. Gregory Polanco (L) RF
2. Neil Walker (S) 2B
3. Andrew McCutchen (R) CF
4. Starling Marte (R) LF
5. Pedro Alvarez (L) 1B
6. Jung Ho Kang (R) 3B
7. Francisco Cervelli (R) C
8. Jordy Mercer (R) SS
9. Vance Worley (R) P

It would be nice if Martinez is a fastball pitcher

Another pitching mis-match with Worley going against Martinez....

Wong with the bat flip the last couple of games.

finally - should have sat J-Hay days ago - stealing money from the Bucs - should be ashamed of himself.

but the right lineup would put Kang at SS and Lombo at 3rd - Hurdle is way too loyal to "his" players. And what the heck did we trade for S-Rod for - what a waste.

Why is Mercer in this lineup?? Where is Sean Rodriguez?? And, when is Holliday going to be tested for roids??

Cutch heating up.

Risking almost sure amputation, Andrew McCutchen stretches what appears to be a sure double, into a double.

Here we go again

Triple play!

My two favorite plays in baseball triple play and inside the park homerun

Maybe that triple play will be the beginning of the turn around for this season! Go Bucs!

Maybe that's our season-turning moment.

Let's hope it's at least series-turning.

So far, the baseball gods are smiling on the Bucs tonight.

Are we wtnessing the "hidden vigorish" with the triple play and Kang's hit?

Why would Hurdle want to play Rodriguez?? He's only hitting .370 - Hurdle doesnt want to put the only hitter we have other than Kang in the lineup - that might make our other non-hitters uncomfortable. What a joke ......

Harper walkoff hr for nats.

Crazy inning. Bounces all going the Bucs way.

Wow!

triple for Vanimal if he doesn't stumble coming off 1st

That was a strange and wonderful 30 minutes of baseball...

Some Pirate fan must be sticking pins in a Cardinal bobble head doll.

You never what what you get when a game starts, that was a crazy 2nd inning

That's a nice try in Cricket, Pedro.

Bucs continue to chase low pitches. Frustrating for the coaching staff, for sure.

Holliday gets more bad ball hits than any man I've ever seen.

Except Vlad.

Hopefully Marte is not injured.

And back to your regularly scheduled blah-fest.

Cards are unstoppable...

Would Marte have gotten to two of these hits? In any case, the Cards just do it.

Matte missed fly ball is that why he's out?

That didn't last long.

CH not happy...

Cards crush two really decent pitches from Worley to take a 4-3 lead.

So much for the baseball gods.

And Liz is up in the bullpen...

This Buccos team is really lousy...

Awful, awful baseball.

Was Pa in right place?

Was that our wheels I just saw rolling across the infield?

This half inning is lasting so long that the umps ought to call the Bucs on the speed of play.

Worley, Locke and Morton are going to start 65 games this year.

Holliday is up for like the 5th time this inning.

Team looks totally lost out there...

That was a strange and horrible 30 minutes of baseball...

I can't believe benching J Hay didn't solve all of the Pirates' problems.

We all knew once they started hitting the pitching would go to crap

Was going to post earlier about how 3-0 lead will just make it more painful when the inevitable L occurs, but didn't want to be a Debbie Downer. So, it seems relevant now.

Starting to remind me of the 1989 bucs team. Great expectations, with fair share of underachievers.

Marte left with dizziness.

Too many balls to gap.

Starling Marte left the game with dizziness. I'll let you guys take it from here ...

Man, give Tony Sanchez a chance...

Great at bats by Jordy and Cervelli... Two strike approach really working out for you guys

It it just me... or does Jordy Mercer look like Craig Adams with a baseball helmet on?

Worley has done this before. Followed a lousy inning with several strong ones. Clint rolled the dice - good time to do so inmo.

One misfit can have a magical year. Counting on two in a line-up is a mistake.

6-5 walk off. I'm calling it.

One lefty bat on the bench & he uses him in the 5th inning. Brilliant.

Ok walkrer gets one back.

I had a feeling NW would blast one out after Polanco was out...par for the night.

I'm pretty confident in saying that if we only give up 5 runs I think we win this game. It's the giving up 5 runs part that I'm iffy about.

Scahill continues to be a real find in the bullpen.

Scahill again restores order.

Pirates will NOT win with Worley and Locke pretending to be major league pitchers.

Update on Marte, now described as severe dizziness. I'm pretty sure it's the mumps.

Rodriguez smacks one-- why in the hell is he not playing?? Must not be Hurdle's favorite son??

Gotta love pedros all or nothingness. 19 hits. for a 211 average. 10 of those hits are hr or doubles.

Come on Pedro, make an impact.

Why in the H are we not bunting here?!

FINALLY!!!

0 for 8 agaisnt this guy. the Gunner is smiling down there!

Thought he had a slam.

Jordy! Bucs back on top.

Looks like the funk is officially over.

About time he swung at the first pitch

Unacceptable. You can't swing at the first pitch after back to back walks.

Can the pen do it?

Lerch, Watson and Melancon time....

Please pitch Holliday up.

Nice inning hughes.

Crazy game

Good to see Cutch hitting the ball hard.

Hope Polanco is ok...

Serious question: does it seem like Cutch decided, screw this hitting to right and started to pull the ball?

Know this is Bucs bias but looks like we get squeezed by ump and anything close for them is good enough.

Nice glove work Jordy...

Two inning save?

Pete Rose Bourjos always makes me nervous.

Melancon hitting 90-92 on the gun...

RAISE IT!!!

This was fun. Thanks DK and posters.

Raise it. Melancon hitting 90 tonight.

Polanco squeezed it! He is gonna be a great outfielder.

Fun game. Bucs pull the first 4-5-4 triple play in major league history, lose a three run lead, and then rally from behind to win.

Raise it!

Going out on limb here in predicting that's the last 4-5-4 triple play with a Pine Richland and a Korean player we'll ever see.

19 RUNS IN 3 GAMES!!! This offense is the best ever! Bucs to the World Series!

Oh wait...

Too soon? Too much season left? Overreaction to a small portion of a 162 game season?

Bucs need to get on a 14 game winning streak!

Enjoyed the W tonight. Good signs all around for the offense.

I was at the game last year when they turn the around the horn triple play. that was far more impressive. Quick decisions, turns and execution by all. The 4-5-4 last night would have been spectacular of Kang wouldn't have almost walked off the field. Walker made the best decision and you could see it when he paused to readjust for the throw to 3rd.

How ironic is it that with all the offensive struggles KANG is the one player who has quietly started to put it together. How weird. Now to win today and get 2 of 3 from the Cards we'll only be 7 back!
