Here’s the podcast of my guest appearance on TSN 1050 in Toronto with hosts Dave Saylor and Steve Simmons. It was Phil Kessel, front to finish, as one would have anticipated.
Good appearance, DK. I really liked the part about Mario. Kessel is "only" 28, so I think there is time for him to grow up. Plus, as he gets older and his body heals less quickly, if he wants to stay an active hockey player, he may have no choice but to get serious about his conditioning.
that was my thought too, I thought DK had explicitly said recently that WPG was the only outside media he'd do, because it doesn't drive any more subscriptions.

DK, great interview. Helps to fill in some of the background for Kessel's time in Toronto.
I love street hot dogs! Sounds like kessel wants to just play hockey and wants to be a normal guy. He'll get the conditioning as he needs it. He's fast great hands. Don't care about his diet.
So Dejan...really liked the interview. What made you decide to do it when you've turned down ones from outside in the past? Just curious, as I think it helps expose the brand.
Because I criticized the Toronto media in print, I wasn't about to run when they came calling. Nothing else to it.

DK. Good job. I enjoyed that. I sensed some arrogance and jealousy from the Canadian host. Franchises like Pittsburgh are part of the problem for Canadians.
I live in Buffalo and pick up TSN 1050 from Toronto and they have been relentless on criticism of Kessel from diet, conditioning, and attitude. I can see some that point of view, but I still think he'll be a stud for the Pens.
I understand some major markets have a desire to be critical, but it gets annoying when people desire to hammer into those who are just introverts. Leadership and being a good teammate can be done through actions. Some of the Toronto media has a desire to blame players rather than crediting a player who led them to the playoffs a couple years ago especially when their management and coaching have been so bad.
I live in Buffalo and pick up TSN 1050 from Toronto and they have just been grilling Kessel and his diet, conditioning, and attitude. I mean relentless. I can understand that view to an extent, but overall he is a beast and will be a stud for the Pens.
