  1. Can a big win here propel Penn State back into Top 25?
    .
    That would be a story.

    1. Against Akron?

      1. They win big while others in rankings lose.
        .
        Simple formula.

    2. Like Pitt won big over Delaware? It’ll take more than a win over Akron. It’s take some wins in the Big 10.

      1. Penn State already #29 after win in Ireland over team that beat them last season.
        .
5 teams in Top 25 lose, the door is open.

It would take a HUGE win, and a bunch of upsets IMHO.

They were ranked 30th in the AP and NR in the USA Today poll after last week.

Now, if they are undefeated and beat Michigan next month, that should get them in. Beating Rutgers, Northwestern and UMass won’t sway voters

  3. Wild Bill says:

Hoping for a big win today. The team got a big greeting from my gang and a large crowd as they entered the stadium at 9:30 as per Franklin’s request.

  4. Reading says:

ESPN yesterday seemed to be setting up narrative that two weeks into the season a loss today by Michigan, Michigan State, or Ohio State in the so-called big interconference games would justify eliminating B1G teams from 4-team playoff.

    1. While Alabama plays Florida International & the like.

      1. pattonbb says:

Every school schedules these “easy win” games. Not just Bama.

      2. True.

    2. Reading says:

If Nebraska loses to McNeese State, then okay, no B1G in the playoff.

  5. Wild Bill says:

    A great stand on defense.

  6. Wild Bill says:

    Oops – forgot about Belton. That’s 7.

  7. Nick Powers says:

Nice to see some depth rotating in on defense. Solid quarter against an Akron team much better than years past.

  8. Milo Hamilton says:

Did Terry Bowden lose a bet ? His hair is orange. Not red, not blonde, but orange.

    1. Milo Hamilton says:

I guess the more appropriate question would be – is that really his hair ? It’s extremely disconcerting.

      1. IronWicki says:

What’s disconcerting is PSU’s running game.

    2. pattonbb says:

      He looks horrible.

    3. IronWicki says:

It’s really hard to look at him…without laughing

    4. Jim S. says:

      He still has hair?

  9. AJS says:

Last week we got the good CH this week we get the bad. He just refuses to throw balls away. The longer it stays in his hand the more likely he opts to throw it into double coverage. Lots of misfires as well. Lucky to only have 1 pick so far. And he got hit with the boo birds after that last first half drive.

  10. Reading says:

When did Danny Partridge or the brother of that annoying Wendy’s “Red” chick become Akron’s coach?

  11. HOF Coach says:

Not watching the game and I just noticed the score, 14-3 in the 4th Quarter. Why is this game still close? Is Akron that good??

    1. Harrisburg Hal says:

A good win all things considered. A week ago they were on another continent. The heat and humidity forced them to play a lot of players today. I didn’t expect the defense to keep them out of the end zone today.
