App testing begins tomorrow 13

DEJAN KOVACEVIC, DK ON PITTSBURGH SPORTS The testing for our new app will begin Thursday, and the next step will be submitting it to Apple for approval. If all that goes well, it should be available for your iPhones and iPads by next week. To say we’re excited about this would be obscenely understating it. The Android app will follow and, because it’s being built by the same developer within the same process, it shouldn’t take too long. Our original goal had been to have the app available for the Penguins’ opener, and that’s obviously

You said the app is free “with subscription.” Does that mean it will require some sort of authentication of subscription when I download from the App Store or will it show up as free to everyone and I just need to authenticate my subscription to open/log in?

Not in the immediate plans. Just those two for now. Stuff’s expensive! :)

No problem, I have a windows dealio tablet and don’t really need an app…. keep up the good work

I’ve found safari on the iPhone to be very user friendly with your site, DK. I will be interested to see how the app works.
Keep up the quality work. Best $ I’ve ever spent on a subscription!

Thanks! I’ve been OK with Safari on iPhone, too. This is at some other level.

Anyone able to click column links in Tweetbot and NOT get the Please subscribe block? Workaround is easy enough – just tell Tweetbot to open them in Safari, but it would be nice if I could get the browser built in to Tweetbot to acknowledge my subscription.

So Dejan…does that mean the announcement of the corporate sponsor is put off as well? Or did I miss that somewhere?

Congrats, DK. Awesome news, and can’t wait for the Android version!

Just a curiosity: why did you decide to go with an app rather than a mobile optimized site? The ability to push notifications, alerts, etc?

  9. Josh Dunmire says:

I can’t wait for the app!
