Penguins 3, Senators 2, final

No Hornqvist today. Might have to make another trade. You can never overestimate the value of these early December games.

people don't listen to anything you say dejan

Since I don't see much success coming by spreading out a weak lineup, I'd like to see these forward lines
1st: Comeau - Crosby - Malkin
2nd: Spaling - Sutter - Megna
3rd: Klinkhammer - Goc - Downie
4th: Sill - Ebbett - Adams

NHL goal scoring is down, down, down... while DK was nailing the NHL Department of Player Safety, last week, I was hammering the NHL for their embarrassing zero tolerance policy as it relates to the on-ice product and penalties. http://www.pensburgh.com/2014/11/30/7311443/nhls-embarrassing-zero-tolerance-policy
5.34 goals per game this season
5.34 goals per game last season
5.12 goals per game 2003-2004
6.16 goals per game 2005-2006

Meanwhile, NHL has a problem in Florida as the not-so Miami Panthers are drawing historically bad attendance figures. Through 11 games, averaging 8,872... the last team to have that bad of an average attendance were the 1998-99 Carolina Hurricanes.

I saw some twitter comments and Trib article about Crosby practicing hard by himself after a team practice. He doesn't need to work harder, he needs to play smarter. He's not shooting the puck enough for a player getting the amount of minutes he's on the ice at even-strength. Same goes for Malkin.

Of the top 10 scoring (points) centers in NHL this season, their shots on goals
1. Sidney Crosby, 33 points, 72 shots
2. Tyler Seguin, 32 points, 108 shots
3. Steven Stamkos, 32 points, 87 shots
4. Evgeni Malkin, 30 points, 66 shots
5. Tyler Johnson, 28 points, 71 shots
6. Claude Giroux, 28 points, 107 shots
7. Ryan Getzlaf, 26 points, 72 shots
8. Jiri Hudler, 25 points, 46 shots
9. Filip Forsberg, 25 points, 77 shots
10. Ryan Johansen, 25 points, 63

Interesting to see Crosby and Malkin around middle of the pack in terms of shots on goal.

i think the comment by SheckyW was said in jest.

Here we go again! Ya know, I'm at the point where I'm starting to think we should just pick a game and go all "islanders" on a team. Garage league thinks we play dirty, go out and do it one game! Seriously questioning why I watch this league anymore

NHL is taking notes from the NFL. Going for the "no contact" league.

Maybe the NHL should take a page out of college football's book & use replay to determine if a 5 minute major called on the ice is the correct call.

That was an absolutely atrocious call on Zach Sill. A perfectly clean hit.

So in the last week we've seen a guy get suspended 2 games for interference & another guy receive a 5 minute major for interference. Yet no goals are scored in the league anymore because they refuse to enforce the rules on, everyone say it with me, interference.

Most poorly officiated pro sport - and that's saying something.

I have been watching NHL hockey since 1965. Between mickey mouse refs, and Bozo's Dept of Player Safety, i don't know how much longer I can last.

Pens have to get through this but losing at home is about everyone playing harder. Pens have to play with better effort and want to. Find a way to just steal a win here.

Good to get that power play goal. With the forward talent eroded, Pens are going to be more dependent upon special teams.

Very easy game plan going into the third period.

Keep it simple stupid.

Liking what I've seen from Dumo.....that's a bright spot!

That is Beer League wide-open. OY.

That was a good comeback win for the Penguins after looking really sloppy in second period. Pens kicked it up a notch in the third and Senators didn't have an answer.

The amount of time for Ehrhoff on his goal, I think he had time to chug a German beer, and rip that slapper.

Flower's big double save at the last minute is not to be overlooked.

Ehrhoff and Depres strong games today.

Dumoulin looking more comfortable as well.

Not only a terrible call on Sill, but Ryan skates past Downie, who doesn't have the puck, elbows him the head, knocks him down and no call. We have now seen two clean hits penalized with a 2 game suspension and a 5 min major, but crickets from the league on a similar hit on Hornqvist who is out with a concussion.

On a happier note, I think Spaling has been generally useless, but he made a great play on Erhoff's winner, by planting himself in the slot and getting Ott's d-man to spend time trying to move him out instead of paying attention to a wide open Erhoff, giving him all day to shoot. Spaling won't get an assist on the goal, but he should.

Best thing about Ehrhoff's and Depres' shots.

They're on net.

I thought Klinkhammer had an immediate impact today for them. One game I know, but I like his style of play.

I think Eric Bowser is auditioning for a job, Dejan.

u can not trade p.martin if you want a cup run. stop thinking irrational. why would you give up a good solid defense line/pair for a winger...when u have the depth in defenders in ahl. defenders will be thegold here goingforward

Dejan you gotta love Johnston's press conference after the games compare to Bylsma's.

Watch Goc react to the reg explaining the interference call....rats!! Trying to embed the Gif!!!

Well, rats. If anyone knows how to embed a gif, let me know.
