Pirates 4, Diamondbacks 1

Tonight? Whoohoo! Maybe Melancon can close out twice in one day! I kid, of course...as I'm sure you're just being efficient in getting the post ready for tomorrow...but, hell, I'd love another Bucs game tonight!

Love doubleheaders. Bicoastal may catch on.

Hope this year's trip to Arizona isn't like last year's

In case you were wondering, the Pirates were 8-8 after 16 games last year also They then went 2-10 in their next 12, comprised of 0-3 vs. Brewers, 1-3 vs. Reds, 1-2 at Cardinals, and 0-2 at Orioles. This year, the Pirates next 12 games are 3 at D'Backs, 3 at Cubs, 3 at Cardinals and 3 vs. Reds. 6-6 in the next 12 would mean the Pirates wouldn't have to spend the rest of May and June digging themselves out of a hole.

Pirates Lineup:
1. Josh Harrison (R) 3B
2. Gregory Polanco (L) RF
3. Andrew McCutchen (R) CF
4. Neil Walker (S) 2B
5. Starling Marte (R) LF
6. Pedro Alvarez (L) 1B
7. Francisco Cervelli (R) C
8. Jordy Mercer (R) SS
9. Gerrit Cole (R) P

Nothing like a good dose of regression. Sorry, just cannot resist picking the low-hanging fruit.

Only a few innings in, but a 3-0 lead and Cole on fire, I'm calling it now. Pirates will hold on and win. D-Backs lineup not real impressive and Collmenter is no world-beater.

Good start tonight. Cole seems to be dealing.

One more time, putting the call out for JRay. We're missing the ins and outs of Bryan Morris daily life.

Greetings Bucco nation from inside Chase field. Answering the bell for Milo Hamilton.

No recent Bryan Morris stories but did talk to my friend who reps him and Stewart couple weeks back.

Pirates looking good with the bats early and Cole has been sharp.

Let's Go Bucs!

Feel so confident with Cole on the mound..he is a stud GO BUCS

McCutchen just does not look right.

Cervelli was vastly overrated defensively. We were sold a bill of goods.

It won't be, but that play at the plate should be an error on Cervelli.

Pedro's inexperienced showed in the 6th. He should have had that ball Tomas hit.

Looks like the luster is off of Corey Hart.

Bats sure went cold after the second inning...good thing Cole is dealing tonight.

So the Buccos used 2 bench spots for 1B that inning....

Nice way to finish his night by Cole.

Nice to see pen protected into the eighth.

Nice!!!

Marte is locked in.

So who is he trying to avoid tonight ? Watson after 2 innings the other night or Melancon a 2nd straight day.

Tough luck Lambo. Unreal. Can't get a break.

I'll take a drama free 9th...good start to the road trip. Big start by Cole. Bullpen needed a blow.

Cole 3-0!
