Pirates' possible "best pitcher" going today.

A road sweep would be delightful.

Neil Walker yesterday——2 bases empty doubles, 2 runs scored with 2 outs.
Pirates scored . . . . 2 runs.
That's a performance that needs noticed!!

So are we going to have to listen to a bunch of idiots scream for the DH because of what happened to Wainwright? I sure hope not but I guess it's inevitable.

Max Scherzer: Wainwright news 'brutal'

In light of Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright's season-ending Achilles injury, the Nationals RHP said he's not opposed to the NL adapting a DH: "Who'd people rather see hit -- Big Papi or me? ... Both leagues need to be on the same set of rules."

Parker
4-26-2015, 3:33 pm
Agree. Both leagues need the same set of rules...... pitchers hit!

DH would probably add back some of the time they've managed to cut from these games. Add pitchers to the AL, game times would decrease even more.

They made a rule up because the golden boy Buster Posey got hurt so I can see the same thing coming cause another golden boy got hurt I bet DH in the NL within two years.

@Parker.
I AGREE.
Pitchers TRY to hit.
And THAT'S the beauty of the game.

I happened to see Tyler Glasnow pitch yesterday for the Altoona Curve vs. the Erie Seawolves (Tigers). I'd like to say I am a big enough fan to know he was pitching yesterday, but I was really there because my daughter's fifth grade school chorus sang the national anthem.

Glasnow was OK. He gave up one run in 5-2/3 IP on 87 pitches before leaving due to his pitch count. 52 pitches were strikes, meaning 35 were balls. My one critique is that he worked behind in the count a lot. I might give him a pass because it was a sunny day in the 40's with a wind chill in the 30's. I wore gloves the whole time, so I can't imagine pitching with bare hands.

So, that is my scouting report from an untrained eye sitting in the second level behind first base. (P.S. the kids sang great, thank you very much.)

Hello Bucco nation. Taking in game with my lil one today, hoping to see the sweep and 5 straight.

Great start to year considering a shaky closer and bats still a bit on ice.

Milo Hamilton don't know if you saw my post yesterday, but answering your call and hope you have been well. Had a really nice chat with Stewart yesterday about Russell Martin, AJ's return, how happy he is to be back in Pittsburgh with this group, and actually how much he likes and respects NH and how sharp a baseball man he is which was neat to get that perspective. Sorry no recent Morris stories.

Go Bucs!

The Pirates are 10-8 after 18 games. There are 9 18-game segments in a season. If they average 10-8 for each the the 9 segments, they end up 90-72.

Last year they were 8-10 after 18 games. Two years ago, their record was 10-8, the sames as this year.

Actually frankkuchno, MY Sunday was awesome, but that's beside the point. Since you replied to my initial comment way after the game was over I will explain it to you. I made that comment after watching Marte strikeout badly his first three times at the plate today.

Since Marte is such a streaky hitter, it was a fair comment/observation regarding if his hot streak was over.

Again, not to take anything away from the Bucs' rotation in this series, but the D-Backs' offense essentially is non-existent. Can't hit with guys on base. Can't hit with guys not on base. The key phrase is "can't hit." Games against the Cubs and Cards will be a better test. Arizona looks like Charlie Morton could pitch against them right now and shut them out.

I would prefer Marcus Peters, though I know not likely. I know he's got baggage, but he could start Day 1.
