Wednesday night will be a tough one for Pitt, but the game Saturday is shaping up as a huge one. At home, national TV, UNC is beatable. Really didn't think we'd still be playing meaningful games at this point in the season back in November. Let's go Pitt!

What do you think? 5-3 gets them in with an ACC tourney win or two? Or 6-2 with a tourney win?

To me 4-4 or worse, their out. Unless they go on one heck of a run in Greensboro.

I think at least 5-3 plus one tourney win will do it.

Pens trade hot rumor? Pens might trade Kunitz to NJ for JÄGR?

That picture on that catwalk in Calgary is awesome. That perfectly illustrates what I tell any of my friends that aren't a fan of the sport. I've always felt that hockey translates so poorly to television because of how fast the game moves and changes directions. To completely appreciate the sport you have to attend a game twice. Once, sitting in the upper levels so you can see the plays develop and understand the game a bit more (in this setting I can always catch myself thinking, "How did he not see the player streaking to the net and hit him with a simple pass?". The second time you have to sit close to the glass and so you can get a full appreciation of how fast the game is played, how physical it is, and how big some of the players actually are (from this level you think, "Holy crap, there isn't enough space or time out there for them to make any decision whatsoever. Boy do I feel silly for criticizing that player for not making that pass I saw while sitting so far away or watching on television." This is one of the many reasons hockey will never be one of the top 3 most popular sports in America. And I'm perfectly fine with that.

Agreed...Hockey equipment isnt cheap either for the average American boy or girl.

2-9-2015, 9:39 pm

Hockey equipment, ice time, several reasons. People grow to love what they played as kids. Hockey isn't nearly as accessible as other sports.

Congrats Dejan! Now about Madden, hate seeing people affiliated with the Pens act like he does. http://hockeywithoutpropriety.com/2015/white-male-sports-journalists-never-forget-edition-the-pittsburgh-sports-media-hates-women-and-diversity.html

Nice. Anytime MM gets a kick in the arse for his misogyny I applaud.
I only wish DK would stay away from him until he cleans up his act.
It's a shame because he knows a lot about hockey but he seemingly can't help being a total ass. Or stop tweeting porn.

Apparently what Mark Madden is doing is working because here he is getting a reaction from people on a blog that he is not part of. What's the saying? Negative attention is still attention.

Give us a break. That link is a politically correct screed that fails to appreciate the irony of complaining about racism while throwing around the epithet "old white dude."

Bet my last cent Tiger used steroids.

2-9-2015, 11:55 pm

Like it or not, Madden gets the ratings. Dejan is trying to get this site out there as much as possible. You try to go to the places that generate the most possible opportunities for new subscribers.

I think it's a sad reflection of American society, in general, that people like Madden have so many followers but as the masses say, "it is what it is".

In the Laugh or Cry Dept....BB dong rushes with 4th line in practice today.
Too early to start drinking?

Watching a Pirates rewind and just saw Pedro make one of thos crazy diving stops to his left roll on the ground wheel up to his knee and throws a perfect strike just in time. All his throwing errors come on easy lots of time throws and he makes plays like that. Such a shame he has those yips. Such a great player at the hot spot otherwise. Cant help but wonder if the time away in the off season may help and if taking a look at him back at third may be worth it if Jayhay starts to look more like his career self than his 2014 self.

And just two innings later thwre is the air mail.
