NHL Rivalry Night on NBCSN... the late game featuring that time-tested, bitter match-up between the New York Rangers and the Anaheim Ducks.

Really, I could deal with any one from NBCSN with the exception of McGuire. I just cannot stand his commentary.

Cynical old fart that I am,sometimes look at some of the charitable appearances these guys make with a bit of a gimlet eye, just PR.
Gotta say though, the Gatorade thing they just played on sledge hockey....
The smiles on the pros faces leads me to believe they got more out of it than the others.
Sid smile was sooo real... made me feel good about humanity.

This ain't soccer where ya fall down and cry for your mommie, and act like you are maimed for life..
It really should be a non call unless the guy acts like a guy in the worlds most popular game. (No DK I anit seein Commies coming over the hills :))
Sometimes if you are feeling a trip, a hack, or a slash etc. it is smart to go down . I got no problem w/it unless it is way overacted.

Trying to stop a pass through the crease? That's what he's supposed to do. Can't help the bounce it took.

Better to blame the poor back check by Sid and not covering the guy.

Sarah
1-7-2015, 9:47 pm
MAF needs to elevate that w the blade. But there's so much paddle down work now, it's hard.

Jay Baileys
1-7-2015, 9:54 pm
I was always told down throw the puck/ball in front of your own net, but hey if you think that's the best he can do, we'll have to disagree.

Sarah
1-7-2015, 9:59 pm
I thought he was trying to keep it from a closer guy not sure who. Often just changing the direction of the pass is a wise move, since it's generally going to somebody.
IMO the best play is to change direction (which he did) and also elevate (which he didn't) and he unfortunately happened to put it on Bergerons stick.
He did not "throw it in front of his own net" in the way you imply. You can't let that pass go through.

Jay Baileys
1-7-2015, 10:01 pm
Ill trust you because I don't play goalie, I thought he could have played it much better, I think we can agree on that.

Dodkong
1-7-2015, 10:03 pm
He had his stick down to stop a pass through the crease. The puck bounced off his stick to Bruins player.

How is that MAF doing anything on purpose? He did not stop the puck and then try to pass it with the blade. It ricocheted off him to another player.

I never said it was the best he could do. I said I don't blame him for a random act that he could not control.

Garage League strikes again. Of all the things they could have said to make it a good goal, hitting the stick below the crossbar wasn't one of them. Total joke; makes NFL officials look competent.

As long as this league stubbornly refuses to admit and address its poor officiating its not going to grow. Go watch any Division I hockey game and you'll see better officiating every game, night in night out. I can't believe the state of it to be honest. It's the giant elephant in the room for this league and a slew of stupid Winter Classics aren't going to come close to making up for it.

HJ wants this team peaking going into the playoffs, Pens were better team tonight and once Hornqvist returns that will allow the lines to be balanced and just will be hard pressed to keep from wearing down teams in the playoffs. Bennett is key and his health and being injury free is big.

In case anyone was wondering why there was no definitive crossbar level shot of the OT winner, blame Root or whoever had the coverage.

Camera directly below us at goal line was shooting crowd dancing to AC/DC when it was scored. But hey, that heavy set lady on the overhead scoreboard was shakin' it mighty fierce -- to Thunderstruck I think it was. Oh yeah, now back to the game.

What's that? We lost???

Root didn't do the game. You know the network backed by the league with all the $ NBC Sports had it. So don't blame Root. By the way DK found the shot. How does the NHL not have access to it?

DJ
1-8-2015, 12:53 am
That's why I said whoever did the coverage. Also wasn't sure all cameras were necessarily NBC's, including those shooting local crowd.

Geno was galloping again tonight . . . on a mission and dominant.

If he finished couple early ones, would not have been close.
