Nice to see KC and O's moving on. Might be SF next.

The Rungarnerer (8 of 'em) goes again tonight. Seems like Bucs game only blow-out in postseason. Wish it were us playing Nats. Was not fearing that team. Apparently Giants aren't either.

I don’t like the Steelers chances in Cleveland this week. The Steelers and Ravens were very lucky to squeak Cleveland earlier this year.

Me neither, Dom. And I fear nose-rubbing from my hometown Cleveland pals. UGH.

I'm thinking we'll need a huge halftime lead again.

Next week we play the north west side of Pittsburgh. Thats how much we own Cleveland.

Anyone else feel there are too many teams in the MLB post season?

I think they have the fewest of any of the 4 major pro sports, Dom.

No.

When you get to the point where anyone sniffing .500 are not sellers at the trade deadline because they are a 'playoff contender' you have too many playoff teams.

I think what MLB wants is a smaller market/low payroll club to squeak in the playoffs, get hot in the postseason, and win the WS. This might be the most likely chance a low payroll team could win the WS as not one team with a low payroll has won their division this year.

Arriba Wilver

Disagree 100%. Puts more emphasis on getting the right team from the beginning. Can't "buy" a championship at the deadline, which always seemed a little bogus to me.

Its the 3rd year for two wild cards. It has more to do with Youth catching older players. Thus making the league more competitive. But dont worry. Soon teams with money will buy the youth and things will get back to normal.

Anyone not think Cincy would be destroyed last night? Couple the fact that Cincy always comes up small in big games on the big stage with NE getting hammered by local media all week & it was the perfect storm. Steelers have been in that environment before & it doesn't go well.

I thought the same thing. No doubt in my mind Cincy was going to get chewed up. The Bengals have a good team, but I have no confidence in the Red Menace at QB in big games.

Dom
10-6-2014, 9:16 am
It was a surprise to me. I thought Cinci was a SB contender. Should have known better. I noticed that they refused to go with a man-to-man D against the pats. We here in Pittsburgh know darn well, you’ll never beat Brady with a zone defense.

Dom
10-6-2014, 9:20 am
It appears that the Steelers have been playing a lot of man-to-man D this year. I wonder if the time of the zone blitz, is on its way out.

Glad to hear of how many of us are jazzed for the new regime and new players on the Pens. We should expect that the new players/system will take time to jell, and not go nuclear if they don't have the best of starts.

So DK... Are you going to ask Tomlin tomorrow if it's OK to call him a players coach after he prioritizes throwing a pass to secure a dumb record over safely kneeling on the ball to secure a win? #joke

KC was losing its WC game 7-3 in the 8th, I think. They won that game, & have now eliminated LAA in 3 straight. SF was 22 games over .500 in June, & finished at only +14. Now, they are 3-0 in the playoffs. Once you get in the playoffs in MLB, anything can happen.

Man, you said it. I had been thinking that it was the Bucs who hit their stride at just the right time. But apparently the new way to go is to back into the playoffs and then start to play.

How would you all rate Troy’s play thus far this year? I think he has been disappointing. I remember reading that Troy claimed he would have retired before his play diminishes. If he does retire after the end of the season, would he have a salary that still counts against the salary cap?

Reply

Steelkings

Troys play only looks diminished because of the diminished play of the secondary as a whole.

Dom, admitting I haven't seen all the action, I've had the impression the Qbs are still very conscious of him and check off to things that go away from him.
