        Me, too!

    2. Karen says:

Go Royals! I love the underdogs!

Maybe that explains why I’m a pirates fan…

    Giants in 5.

    1. Jandy says:

Oshie, ya think? I know Bumgarner should be tough tonight…

      1. Oshie says:

I did predict a Giants sweep in 2012 on the previous incarnation of this blog. :). My first big job was in Olathe, KS. I moonlighted at then Royals Stadium. Those people were the salt of the Earth. But, they are managed by the worst manager this side of Dusty Baker.

        1. Jandy says:

well, it will be interesting! and worse than Dusty??? or as bad as…that’s BAD!

    2. I’ll echo this. Pitching wins.

      1. Jandy says:

they have an advantage with Bumgarner

        1. Biz says:

Lets hope in say 3 years we are speaking the same with Glasnow

  6. Radio wave says:

Classy DK to add this thread with the locals out of it. Jal, thanks for the lineups. Rooting for a seven game series.

    1. All major championship series or games will have game posts: NFL, NHL, MLB, NCAA football and basketball.

      1. Dom says:

What about the NBA…Nah, I’m just messin’ with ya. I had you all going though, right?

      2. Still no Buckeye threads. ;)

        Maybe this weekend.

        1. Wild Bill says:

I believe you mean a Penn State thread, Lucky.

        2. :D

I don’t think I’ll say anything negative about PSU. Last season, after berating the basketball team, they beat OSU twice.

      3. Jim S. says:

        Miscreants unite!! :-)

  7. Milo Hamilton says:

The Royals annoy me. I admit it, I’m jealous, but they annoy me nonetheless. Go Giants.

    1. Oshie says:

Bochy and the Giants staff and pen won’t be afraid to put a little scare into Lorenzo Cain.

    2. Karen22 says:

I hope they annoy the Giants as well. Go Royals!

    3. Jim S. says:

I feel like I should be rooting for the Royals. But, I just can’t. I keep thinking that should be us.

  8. Biz says:

    I’m still bummed.

How many days till Spring Training ;-)

    1. Jandy says:

Where’s Groatie when ya need him???

      1. Biz says:

Probably stirring something up, somewhere ;-)

    2. Tom Armstrong says:

      120 days…give or take.

  9. Oshie says:

Good lord, it’s an authentic recording artist singing the Anthem and not an American Idol creation!

You are slipping with the corporate synergy, Fox.

  10. Milo Hamilton says:

Jerry Meals working the plate for Game 1, then he’ll be the replay ump for Game 3 and on. Good Lord.

    1. Tom Armstrong says:

      Posts crossed Milo

  11. Tom Armstrong says:

Jerry Meals behind the plate? It’s the WS and Jerry Meals is behind the plate. Shame on MLB.

    1. Dom says:
      -2

LEt’s bury the hatchet with Meals. He just made that one mistake.

      1. Milo Hamilton says:

Good idea. I say right between the shoulder blades.

  12. At least Meals won’t let it go any longer than he deems necessary.

  13. Tom Armstrong says:

Who is the guy in the front row with the “Marlins” jacket on? Seems like an odd thing.

    1. Patrick(ri) says:

      Ike Davis.

      1. We can only hope.

Looks like Big Game Shields has been a big shame this post season.

        1. Jim S. says:

Story of his career, unfortunately, Lucky. He was not good with Tampa, either.

      2. Florida Steeler says:

        Good one.

    2. Jim S. says:

      GIJ?

  14. Oshie says:

I was happy to hear Bochy say at the pregame presser that the time off was needed, especially for his bullpen. Refreshing stuff. That rust argument never held water with me. It’s the World Series! You better be jacked to play in it, no matter how many days you sat.

  15. Jim S. says:

It doesn’t make me feel much better as a Bucs fan, but at least Bumgarner seems to toy with everyone in the playoffs.

  16. Jim S. says:

Team with home field advantage has won 25 of the last 31 WS. Seems perfectly reasonable to let something so important be decided by the All Star Game.

    1. Biz says:

The Budmeister will be gone soon

  17. Milo Hamilton says:

    Widespread Panik has ensued.

  18. pattonbb says:

Hunter Strickland is pitching in the world series. How cool is that?

  19. Jandy says:

I tried to watch this game, and really wanted to. Couldn’t stay awake. I’ll blame it on working outside for a bit after work.
Did see the Royals had bases loaded at one point, and couldn’t score.

    1. Don’t worry. I think it’s still going on.

      1. Jandy says:

The score would have to be eleventy-two to 1 by now…

      2. Oshie says:

Haha! Baseball ought to adopt a rule like curling has that allows for each team to finish their game during an alloted time under pain of severe penalty!

        1. Is that how it’s worded for real?

        2. Oshie says:

No. I’ve seen some local rules around here written in that verbiage, but official rule is not written in this manner.

    2. Karen22 says:

I stopped watching in the 5th inning…first real SNOOZER of the postseason.

  20. Dom says:

    Royals in six!

    1. Jandy says:

Giants will win next time Bumgarner pitches, so you may be right, Dom lol

  21. patrick(ri) says:

Tough crowd. Hard to write off a team that has been 9-1 in the playoffs. Bumgarner may have his streak interrupted next time, too. Raul O. will gather the congregation and breathe some fire.

  22. chickbov says:

In the hope that I am in the correct thread, thinking this site was an open forum when paying $24 for freedom of speech, I`m happy to know that my posts, like the ones yesterday, won`t be deleted because I was in a football discussion page. I felt like I raised some good topics

  23. chickbov says:

about the Pirates, free agency, Russ Martin and exactly how ravaged the Pirates will be after free agency signings. Huntington started “strong” by signing minor league veteran Preston Guilmet from the Orioles as the first of several expected moves to bolster the bullpen.

  24. chickbov says:

The Bucs have 15 mil to sign Super Russ, but the free agent market value for him could be as high as 50 mil. So long, Russ. The old baseball adage says that a team needs to be strong up the middle to succeed. The Bucs were strong with Martin, Mercer, Walker and Cutch. Losing

  25. chickbov says:

Martin will hurt big time, with no credible back-up to fill in. The other big concern I had was what the starting pitching staff will look like. Despite his terrible record, Liriano posted numbers very similar to 2013. Volquez was a pleasant surprise. We`ll see who`s left come

  26. chickbov says:

opening day. It feels a bit like `92-`93, when everyone split except maybe Jay Bell, Jeff King, and The Rock.

    1. NMR says:

      Wow…

  27. chickbov says:

The Royals obviously knew it was going to be a tough game 1. Bumgarner is having a career year. Game 2 should be a close one, and I like the Royals to even it up. They have a few guys with great career numbers vs. Peavy, and the rookie Ventura has good numbers at home.

  28. chickbov says:

Great job, Royals. I think Pirate fans can relate to the Royals many years of terrible teams and records. You almost have to give San Fran another win for a game not even played yet, if they have to face Bumgarner again. Game 5 or 6. He`s not infallible, but hard to rough up.
